Hi as you can see im new and really apologise if this topic is in the wrong section but i have done countless searches with different keywords and couldnt find anything.

My Girlfriends Samsung D500 phone was stole earlier this afternoon (b**tards), well 10mins after the theft i phoned the service provider to have the phone and sim barred which went through ok.

now altho i am aware that the phone is now completely useless to them and is not useable in the UK, i would just like to know if the scumbag who stole it can still access the numbers or msgs stored either on the phone or the sim?

Cheers in advance.

Depends.

Was the sim PIN locked? And was the phone switched off? If so to both, then they can't access her sim numbers. If not, then they could have. The phone memory is not protected at all unless you have locked it to the sim and the sim is pin locked.

What network was the phone on?

Usually, the first thing someone does with a stolen phone is power off and ditch the sim to prevent triangulation etc etc.

Im not sure if she had the sim pin lock on, i think she may have had the phone lock on, but i was thinkin myself that that could prob b by passed easily could it?

only if the phone is on, which if the theif pulled the battery off to remove the simcard is very likely.

they can easily be bypassed if the phone is on, i have software for my oldphone that reads the phone code and pin number.

And putting an expired SIM card in will let you use a D500 for camera, folder browsing etc, all but calls, alas, I am afraid to say.

But mate, rest assured they will BURN IN HELL, whoever stole it.

As will the two scum who sexually assaulted my g/f whilst stealing her nokia 8210 all those years ago... they'll get their just rewards!
