Guest guardian2020 Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 :D hi i followed the how to unlock topic and wrote a very nice letter to orange for them to send me the security model disable prog.. I added my name, imei, phone number and model and they kindly sent me the "prog"..how ever after unzipping the prog i can not get it to do anything..eg it says ..choose a prog to open with...but the mail sent with the prog says it is a .exe prog. quote: Please add the .exe extension to the "security" file, unzip this application, connect your phone to your PC, and run the application on your PC. It should install a "Security Level" application in your phone's Accessories menu. I have set up the active sync and thats all ok. The part about "security" file i am not sure what or where this is..? Any help please as i would love to instal some nice new home pages and other bits but can't :) or am i destine to put up with oranges home screens..ermm camper van lol I assumed that i could just double click on the file and it would install to the phone but as it does not seem to be a .exe file i wondered if i have to instal to somewhere on the phone and run from there....yus i am a novice with spv's and p.c  but i do try :)
Guest mini_man Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Are you just better off using the method on the forum, i made a nice screen shot version to show how easy it is to decert the phone by hand http://www.modaco.com/HELP_ME_please-t235808.html its really easy, anyway this is basically a guide of how to do it using the unlocking kit on the site
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 You need to check your Inbox for the attachment. If you used a yahoo account to emil Orange developers, then look for the email message, scroll down the page and look for the attachment. How the file attachment appears on the browser (using Yahoo account) http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/6017/snap0831yi.jpg The ZIP file is named 'security_XXXXXXXXXXX.zip'. XXX being your phone's IMEI. Once you have downloaded the file, unzip (extract) contents to a folder on your PC. Open the folder. Inside the folder you will notice 'security'. Add .EXE to the file making it appear as 'security.EXE' (wihtout the quotes). Double click the file to begin installation. Open Accessories folder of your phone, look for Security Level (the one with Orange logo), click on the LNK then choose 'Disable Security'.
Guest guardian2020 Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 Thank that sorted it putting the .exe on the end of the file (doh!!) silly me any way thanks for that xx
