Guest mwille Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Here's something odd: After operating well an entire day my 8310 all of sudden shows errors when pushing the start or contacts key: "can not find MSSTART - can not find MSCONTACTS" etc. Sounds that were set for the alarm etc. are also lost.. I had had this once before but now it seems to be doing it everyday.. A soft reset solves the problem. None the less pretty annoying, I overslept this morning because the darn alarmsound was missing  So : anyone else notice something like this??
Guest mwille Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Oke, this problem is gettin really annoying now.. Anybody had this / know of a cause or solution?? Besides the obvious hard reset.. Installed : Batplug, Facade, Xbar 3.1, Codewallet Pro, Papyrus, Bluetooth switch, Clearvue Suite..
Guest stbn Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Hi! I've nearly the same problem! "can not find :MSStart". In my case sound-settings are unaffected. e. g. the phone hangs up at 3:02 a.m. at night (the clock hangs up as well) without any programms running or any noticeable action. Very strange! I already did a hard reset - no improvement! I've absolutly no idea! Phone unlocked. Installed: LateNight Reminder, ClearVue, CodeWallet, GPRS-Track, AutoKeylock, Facade, Papyrus, Tweaks2K2, xbar3
Guest mwille Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 the phone hangs up at 3:02 a.m. at night (the clock hangs up as well Same here... but it's only the homescreenclock that hangs, because after the reboot the time is exactly right again! One other thing, I noticed I can still scroll over the homescreen, scroll through Facade's appointments, but I CAN'T open Xbar :?: Perhaps an Xbar bug causing this ? :??: I already did a hard reset - no improvement! I haven't yet. But I will soon... this is annoying
Guest Qtek8310 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I had problems with Xbar3 too. My Phone completely hangs, and I need to take battery to solve it. I didn't notice clock problems, but after using the build in "close all appz" function everything freezes. I formatted the phone and installed everything without Xbar. No more problems.

It's only the homescreen clock that hangs. Even the screensaver clock of the AutomaticKeyLock-Application is up to 'time'. I can still scroll over the homescreen and through appointments and tasks, too. I haven't tried xbar so far, but trying to start any application causes only an error-message. You suspect xbar, causing this trouble? I just changed my homescreen because I don't really trust facade. Keep you posted!
Guest exile Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Hi, Also, the exact same problem as reported here. I had this hang already before I installed facade but had xBar 3.1, so I suspect xBar. I quit the xbar application and for the past 2-3 days I haven't had a problem. Cheers.
Guest mwille Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 For testing I've changed to a homescreen without Facade but I'm keeping Xbar 3.1 So far 1 day and the problem hasn't shown up yet..
Guest shadamehr Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Xbar did this for me too. An Uninstall, and all was fine...
Guest mwille Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Right... two days without Facade and the problem persists, so I gues we can rule out Facade as the cause. I had another thought though : Xbar has a built in task scheduler and since this problem seems to occur at night mainly perhaps that has something to do with it ? So for now I have deactivated the Xbar taskscheduler aswell as the automatic memory cleanup in te xbar.ini file. Let's see what happens.. Update as soon as there is one! I would sure hate to have to do without Xbar... it is a real got-to-have for Smartphone :?:
Guest mwille Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Right... killing the taskscheduler in Xbar didn't do it... Problem occured again last night and once more this late afternoon :?: So test number 2 is next : the homescreen with Facade is back on the phone and Xbar has gone bye-bye.. So far so good. Note : I sure hope that Xetra is reading this post because if Xbar is causing this that would be a real big-ass bummer.. It has been the one and only program that has been with me from the very smartphone start somewhere in 2003 (my first series SPV canary) and let's be honest, a Windows Smartphone, as any Windows Mobile device can simply NOT do without a taskswitcher/killer.. :) I've gotten Vito's Taskswitcher already just in case... Keep you posted on the progress..
Guest stbn Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Hi! After some days testing with xbar and facade, the result is the same for me: xbar seems to be the bad guy :-(. My phone - without xbar - is now running for 3 days without any trouble! We should inform Xetra about this isue Cheers!
Guest mwille Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I look at mine for another two days or so, if the problem stays away I'll contact Xetra and let them know of this bug and that we suspect Xbar of causing it.

Sorry for that and thank you for the info :) regards David Edited February 23, 2006 by Xetra

From my side it's the same with xbar 3 and 3.1. I don't use the crontab feature. Thank you for your quick response!

Also I have tested with and without crontab an with and without the auto-memory-clean, the problem occured in all cases. Looking forward to what you come up with, like I said before : we can't do without Xbar :)
Guest stbn Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Hi! Any news? Without Xbar my 8310 runs without any problems - but I'm really missing Xbar! Thanx!

No news so far? I just about to delete xbar and to search for an alternative task switcher :-( Thanx!
Guest mwille Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm using Vito taskswitcher for the moment and I'm not having any problems with it... But I really mis Xbar, it is simply way better!
Guest Eminos Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 It seems that bug is fixed in the latest Xbar 3.2 .. /E
Guest mwille Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 It seems that bug is fixed in the latest Xbar 3.2 .. /E <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Xetra ? Can you confirm this ? ;)
Guest Eminos Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Take a look at the Xbar3 forums, it's all there ;) /E
Guest kam_ Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I can confirm that.. the new xbar seems fine... although i've been having another 'sound problem'. I set the key sound from 'click' to 'none' and it keeps changing itself to 'tone' It's always done that, even after a hard reset. Anoying as hell! Anyone else get that? Another thing, if the volume is set to minimum (the slider shows nothing when you press down volume) it somestimes freaks out and goes super loud. The only way to fix it is to put the volume to max, make a call and during it decrease the volume.
