Guest kkrull Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 I scanned the barcode off my gym pass onto my phone because I keep losing it. My gym uses a laser scanner like the supermarket. Any bets on whether it will work. I bet it does.
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Nah, too much reflection surely?
Guest Will Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 i've seen a testcase of this working, which was scannable in black and white on mono lcd screen (a nokia) - worked with led scanners, not sure on laser.

Guest kkrull Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Didn't work with the laser scanner. I was so very bummed.

Guest SpacedOut Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Once, while selling a Cingular phone to a customer & was tired of waiting for the printer at work, I tried scanning one of the phone activation barcodes off of our LCD monitors, and, unfortunately, it didn't work. I don't think you'll have much luck with scanning a displayed barcode off your screen, because barcodes work off of no-reflection (black) and reflection (white) to read the 0's and 1's, and not only will your screen reflect too much ambient light, but also "blacks" on LCD screens aren't true black and still eminate light, which will probably confuse the barcode reader. Sorry!
