GPRS stays active after send / receive MMS

As the subject says. After sending or receiving an MMS message the little G symbol stays visible just above my signal bar on the right hand side of the screen. I sent an MMS to test how long it lasted and it was still there 10 minutes after the MMS had cleared into my sent items. I had to turn it off by the usual pressing of the Hang up button.

Is there a setting (I could not find one) that stops GPRS connection after a successful Send / Receive?

Can anyone out there help?

Ive found a setting in registry:

HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\GPRSAutoDetach This was set to 0 and I have set it to a 1 and rebooted phone but this sadly has not worked.
