As we know, you can only set these to exactly what you want by modifying the "BaseHue" registry value.

Unfortunately this value will reset itself based on your theme when you soft-reset your device or when you re-apply your theme.

I was wondering: Has anyone figured out how the system calculates this value from your homescreen background and xml color schemes? I know you can get a basic coloring by changing the "COLOR_TRAYGRADLEFT" value but it is never exact. Does anyone know how to get the value you like from just changing the scheme inside the xml file?

In my latest skin I would want the BaseHue to be set to "160" automatically just by applying the theme.

As you can see, the gradients are too light (in my opinion) although "COLOR_TRAYGRADLEFT" is set to "#000000". :)

I had the same problem when trying to set my tray to black. Although I want to remove all the damn gradients completly. You are limited in the colors you can even set it too.

I want to nix it altogether if possible. No start gradient, no opposing gradient bar just above the start bar, I don't even want the short gradient seperating the Start | Contacts area.

Hello,

I have been having this trouble as well. I just want the trays to be a colour of my choosing without any gradients.

I tried many times to work with the base hue with the themes I use/created but just couldn't get a satisfactory result.

I can't help with how the system calculates the base hue values but..........

I found this little application that you have it not use base hue - I now have black trays as I wanted (or blue/red/green etc). This overrides the system settings so will keep after a soft-reset or if you turn the device off.

To remove the basehue you need to uncheck the Use Base Hue option under the TdyScheme Changer / Customise the color of the taskbar and softkeys for Windows Mobile 5 option.

No more gradients (or at least there weren't on the profiles I've tested it with) - just solid coloured bars.

It can do a few other clever things but I mainly use it to remove the gradients of the themes I use. :)

Its HERE

Regards,

Christian

I see a bunch of homescreens with single color bars, both the top bar, and the bottom bar that contains the Start | Contacts soft key menus. However, no matter what I set my color scheme too it alsways has a gradient - blend to white, thus ruining the effect. Is there any way to remove this gradient.

I'd also like to remove the white gradient what covers 1/2 pixels directly above the Start | Contacts area.

Thanks!

cjgarside,

they're talking about the Smartphone platform, I think your app will only work with a Pocket PC.

There are preset colors for WM5, and the black-softkey-tweak only works on Landscape atm :)

I'm working on a list of the possible colors with WM5, but I think this will not help you out...

Doesn't seem to work with smartphones. I attempted several different methods of installing/running the program, all netted me a screen telling me that this app isn't intended for my phone. SDA Music btw, with WM5

Black Bars Color Scheme! I created this since I hadn't seen anyone else try this yet. Just use whatever standard homescreen you want and select Color Scheme: Black Bars. That's it! No problem with multiple sets of registry entries (only one set for Black Bars Color Scheme). I have tested on my dash with the included homescreens and it works with all of them. I tried with Facade and the bottom bar stays black, but the top one changes to blue (I think they use a transparent Icon Bar with a graphic). Try it out, if it works use it, if not uninstall it and keep looking.

Should work on Portrait, too. I had a small conversation with Roma over at SBSH and he reported that the BlackBarsScheme from my site (see Plugins page) works also on his (application unlocked) I-Mate SPL (WM5 Portrait device). See the screenshot here for proof.

I've found a new software for WM5 smartphones customization, SmartBlaze Theme Designer at http://www.smartblaze.com.

Try it, maybe it helps.

mar11974, you friggin rule!

This looks so slick with my self-made homescreen! Very cool, great job!

One question - anybody else notice that the bottom bar returns to the previous color when the keys are locked, and after you hit the left soft-key to unlock them (when it says "cancel" on the left soft-key). Once the keys unlock, all is well again.

I love that you made it work for the bars on every screen other than that though, so it's not just the homescreen.

Thanks alot!

Hi. Latest news!

I find out that, to remove gradients on trey and on soft buttons you don`t need any software!! You can do it your self by modyfing registry:

1) Go to registry: HKEY_CURENT_USER\ControlPanel\Home\

2) Insert New Key with the name of your scheme or color scheme (the one you want to remove gradients), for example guava.scheme.xml (color scheme) or full.home.xml (home screen)

3) In that new key insert New DWORD Value: COLOR_TITLEFLATCENTER with the value data (base decimal) of your desired tray color. This will remove gradient on tray, for example, insert value 255 to get red tray, or insert value 0 to get pure black.

4) Now insert another New DWORD Value: COLOR_SOFTKEYFLATCENTER with the value data (base decimal) of your desired soft button color. This will remove gradient on soft buttons, for example, insert value 255 to get red tray, or insert value 0 to get pure black.

5)Now, reaplly your theme, or color scheme in Homescreen Setting, and you have it!! No more gradients!

This is example of registry modification:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Home\YOUR SCHEME NAME.scheme.xml]

"COLOR_TITLEFLATCENTER"=dword:000000FF

"COLOR_SOFTKEYFLATCENTER"=dword:000000FF[/codebox]

I hope that will make you all happy?!
