Guest jem777 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 (edited) Don't know if it happened also to you. It surely happened to me... I was in my car, listening to the radio... the speaker gave the name and author of a nice song and damn it... I will not rember it, I need to write it down.... BUT damn it! this stup*d smartphone does not have anything like a simple note manager... I looked on the web but no one was freeware. So I decided to develop one. Here it is... very very very simple... but it works. I want to hear some feedback from you if you like it, so I can continue the development. Requirements ---------------- Based on the Compact Framework 1.1, tested on: - IMate SP3. - WWE SP 2003 SE QVGA (Virtual Radio) - SDK Emulator - WWE SP 2003 SE (Virtual Radio) - SDK Emulator Should work on every Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 SE or later mobile device. On older devices you should install Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 1.1. Installation: ------------- Copy the attached CAB file to your smartphone, navigate to it with a file manager and open it. NB. If you have an old version installed, just install over, it should work and should also leave your old notes. Versioning: ------------- Millo Notes v.0.21 - 14 Feb 2006 - Now using system colors for GUI. - Edit & Delete disabled if note not selected. - Move notes storage to another location (import/export). Millo Notes v.0.2 - 8 Feb 2006 - qvga safe - edit bug fixed - ghost delete bug fixed - added editing enhancements Millo Notes v.0.1 - 3 Feb 2006 - first public release ----------------------- For updates: ----------------------- www.camilloferraris.com/software Thanks, Jem777millonotes.ARM.CAB Edited May 19, 2006 by jem777
Guest mini_man Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Hey tested this app out on my Spv C550 (qvga) it was a nice little app but it didnt run very well there were some sizing issues but thts cos its designed for non qvga oddly when clicking edit this occured clicking details offered this good work though
Guest spr33 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I've just tested it on my SPV E200, works well. Startup time was a little sluggish but I'm sure that things I need to note down can be remembered in those few seconds. Overall, very impressed and I'd like to thank you for the application, I've been wanting a note application for a while and this hits the nail on the head.
Guest jem777 Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 (edited) To mini_man: there were some sizing issues but thts cos its designed for non qvgaI will extend soon the interface for qvga screens. oddly when clicking edit this occured This happened because there was nothing to edit, I will insert a check. To spr33: Startup time was a little sluggish but I'm sure that things I need to note down can be remembered in those few seconds. You are right, maybe I can start directly with the interface to insert new notes and then switch to the list (much time is spent loading the xml notes files). What do you think about it? Thanks! Guest spr33 Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I'd surely try it out, it seems more logical to load the notes after the interface has loaded..in my opinion anyway. Be sure to let us know of any updates on this application, I'm sure it'll become an indispensable application.
Guest jem777 Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Upgraded to version 0.2. Suggestions very very welcomed. Thanks, Jem777
Guest deppjones Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Wow! Great simple application that does just what it's expected to do! Suggestions: -search text in all notes -big icon von QVGA StartMenu :) Keep up your good work... Bye, DJ
Guest rperalta Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Upgraded to version 0.2. Suggestions very very welcomed. Thanks, Jem777 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice and handy software Jem777!!! Here are my comments 1. Slow opening the program on WM5. 2. Slow opening the notes on WM5. 3. Preview pane (top-subject and bottom-content). 4. Different background color (I prefer a little brighter). 5. Menu to import and export your notes to a Storage Card in case you have to do a master reset and re-install the program. Thanks, rperalta
Guest scsi Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Tried it on my SP5 (WM5, qvga) and it works great. Like mentioned, you need to make it check for selected notes when you bring the menu up, so that the Delete and Edit alternatives will be grayed out. Other than that, I am not really fond of how the program looks. I generally hate large, bold text, and the colors aren't that nice. (This is of course a personal opinion) I would preferred if it used system colors and font. That way, everyone would be happy, since they can setup the looks editing their homescreen settings. Layout wise, I would prefer a look like the sms inbox, aswell as when you are creating a new sms, for new notes.
Guest jem777 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Updated with version 0.21, attached to first message of thread. NB: If you have load speed problems (loading takes too much time), it should be related to the Compact Framework that is less performant than native code. If you want to have instant load, just don't EXIT from application, put it in background with the RED button (call hang). To recall it, start it in the START menu. Jem777

Guest patp Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Does this work with Activesync? Does it mirror your Outlook notes to the phone?
Guest deppjones Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Does this work with Activesync? Does it mirror your Outlook notes to the phone? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. Just a simple, useful, little notetaker on your smartphone without any further options. Bye, DJ
Guest upurii Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Does this work with Activesync? Does it mirror your Outlook notes to the phone? Sync and compatibility with Outlook is a good idea. :)
