Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Stick with the phone and get an SP5, I like the Universal but it's a bit on the big side, and the Wizard is handy but the vario is let down as I have is a pain as I have to soft reset at least once a day due to slowdown.

Guest chucky.egg Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I have a Nokia 6100 sitting unused on my desk. I'll take 400 notes for it. Or, if you prefer, you could look at the HTC Prophet (iMate JAMin, Dopod 818 Pro). Lubberly thing it is
Guest nevawlkalone Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 You'll take 400 notes but im not givin em ..unless they in a tune...... Yeah JAMAin look appealing like bob marley....he likes his dougnuts with Jam In LMAO sorry...pants joke...
Guest nevawlkalone Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 , I like the Universal but it's a bit on the big side, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Apart from that is it worth 425 quid> I had big devices b4...
Guest Honest John Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 OK That's more helpful. I have had a SPV original, C500 and now a Vario. Maily used for business. My thoughts about the vario. I, too, wanted a keyboard, but I actually find that the on-screen keyboard is just as handy and for putting in passwords in upper/lower and numeric case, essential. I have not had to reload it every day as has been mentioned in the thread. Occasionally stop all programs, but that's all. At first, I thought it would be too heavy to carry, but so far, it has been ok. Will see when summer comes and no jacket. Touch screen devices - you either love or you don't. I prefer the keys on my C500 to the touch screen on the Vario, but I have for the first time used voice dialling and it is very effective. Remote sync is very fast and reliable, the phone has its own daily recurring alarms, unlike the C500 and browsing the Internet - particularly with WiFi (and, ok, the keyboard too) is great on the landscape screen. I have also moved from Orange to T-Mobile, purely on hassle/cost. I used to be an annual number changer on Orange with free/cashback phones from Onestop, but I got fed up remembering when to claim back and going to the post office to special deliver the claims, so I decided that T-Mobile's current half price for life offers were too good to turn down. As an MP3 player, everyone has been impressed with the quality - if not the choice - of the music and my partner's son who has a W800 thinks it compares favourably. If it wasn't for the wi-fi, I would go for the Compact and give up the keyboard. Lastly, you say that you like creating homescreens. Just look at a thread today on Vario themes and the difficulty in creating them in case it is a no-no. Good luck with your choice.
Guest sporkguy Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I'm in this sort of predicament at the moment, and I'm swaying for the SP5/Qtek 8310, there isnt much that isn't wrong with that handset, and it'll contend with the big boys any day. I've had an M500 in the past, was a great device, but as I fear is similar with yourself, its a bit of overkill. Maybe the SP5 can fit our bill?
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Caution : buying & selling rules, chaps. :) I'd agree with Awarner, go for the SP5.
Guest nevawlkalone Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Caution : buying & selling rules, chaps. :) I'd agree with Awarner, go for the SP5. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We're not doing any buying and selling...im simply askin peoples opinions.... Thanks for the advice! If the vario is more stable than is origionally thought then that may be the way to go.....i love touch screen and like the idea of a keyboard...whey... Cheers guys (and any birds :D ) M
Guest chrisbpr Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 i went from a c500 to a vario & its the best all round device i've ever owned. as with most things like this device people may say its a case of 'jack of all trades but master of none'but i havn't found this. usally when i change devices i find myself swapping back after a month, but i've had the vario since november & i think its great...bit more proccesing power would be nice...but all in all i'd recomend it.
Guest nevawlkalone Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Thanks pal lain a few fears to rest - about all the soft reset this n hard reset itself that etc....nice one
