Guest dbrick Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 After reading some posts suggesting regeditSTG for making changes I copied the .exe over to my phone (Cingular 2125/HTC Faraday), but I apparently don't know how to launch it. Using the Explorer in ActiveSync and clicking the file doesn't work. What am I missing?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Welcome to the site :) You have to launch the app on the phone not on the PC. Place the file on the phone or storage card, I normally place my apps on the Storage Card then create a shortcut to the app and place in my Storage\Windows\Start Menu folder. Once it is in your Start Menu folder you can access and run the app on the phone. I presume you are a new user to the Smartphone platform, and would suggest caution when playing with the registry as you can create problems if you are not careful.

I had just figured out how to launch it using File Manager when I read your post. You're right, I'm new to the Smartphone, but I have messed around with regular Windows registries for a number of years, so I'm pretty careful. What I had been trying to figure out was how to rearrange the order that the Start menu icons appear, so that I would have the ones that I most commonly use on the first page. So far I haven't been successful. I tried the HKCU/software/Microsoft/shell folder and changed the Order SZ, but it didn't like that, so I changed it back. Do you know which would be the correct key? Thanks!

Guest dbrick Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 You're correct HKCU/software/Microsoft/shell/StartMenu Order is the place where they live. You may have to do a reboot to see any changes looeee <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For some reason when I change the values in that key it doesn't reflect my changes upon reboot - it reorders the list in ascending order, yet the Jeyo app seems to work and it seems to only have changed the same registry key. Strange...
