Normally from the phone you point to a file object, press copy, go to the destination and paste shortcut.
Guest SantaSanta Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 larsdennert Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Somebody has other offers? :)
Guest Jamma14 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 You can't link directly to folders on the smartphone, but it might be possible to open it in a file explorer with a shortcut something like "\windows\filemgr.exe \storage\my folder\" although I'm not sure if that's how it passes filenames and you'd have to experiment. Guest SantaSanta Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Jamma14 Thanks, but it doesn't work too. There is the error message "couldn't find Documents(it's folder name..." I tried already: 39#"\Storage Card\Program Files\Binarys\Smart Explorer EN\SmartExplorerEN.exe \Storage Card\My Documents\Documents" and: 39#"\windows\IA_File_Manager.exe \Storage Card\My Documents\Documents" both don't work. :)

Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I don't know if this also holds true to WM5 devices but on non-WM5, you can create shortcut but you can't open them. It'll give you an error. You can however do it with other 3rd party programs: 1. The easy way is through RESCO File Explorer. From the screenshot you will notice that 'Accessories' is highlighted (on background) then as I hit Menu > Send To, there is an option to send the folder shortcut to the Start Menu (as a shortcut) 2. The freeware alternative is via AutoSmartphone script. I have no idea if this will work on WM5. The trick is a bit complicated but somehow it works on non-WM5 Smartphone. Trick here.
Guest SantaSanta Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 gpcarreon [MVP] Thanks, but it doesn't work for WM 5.0 for Smartfone. What a pity!
Guest kevinsephiroth Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 on WM5.0: created a Lyrics folder that i placed into windows/start menu/ and now i can access it by start pannel / more then hit the folder that appears just afters accessories. other possibility: create a folder into windows/start menu/ but place shortcuts in this folder. worked great for me.
Guest Geeklord Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 there's a registry tweak in the features sub-forum where you can change the original homescreen MRU. I tried it out and made a mistake the first time around--ended up getting the folder instead of the app. I hope it holds true for the WM5 :)

If you want to put movies in that folder Windows Media Player will see the files in that folder automaticaly.. I don't think is possible to make a folder shortcut in start menu because I don't think that the start menu has such file manager capabilities so you can't see the folder content there.

I'm using TCPMP for the movies... And I have no shortcut to a folder where my pictures are... have you ??? I don't think is possible to make a folder shortcut in start menu because I don't think that the start menu has such file manager capabilities so you can't see the folder content there. the important isn't to think :) We have to be to sure...
