OK The M500 in my opinion is a worth while upgrade to a C500, why?

Faster Processor, bigger screen, fits in my hand and feels damn light as well as good ergonomics. It's design is not flashy but sleek.

I went to my local shop to upgrade a week before I actually had the device in my hand, 3 words, Rocking Horse sh!t. It was worth the wait, and I could transfer my 512 mini sd to it with the free converter you get with a mini sd :) .

I then proceeded home where I looked for apps and games to put on it. I found a plethera of sites allowing me access to freeware stuff for PPC.

great, I then read up on modaco about ROM upgrades. As I had previously owned an e100 and C500 it sounded easy, well I did that and the update went without a hitch, ALMOST...

The date was in German, If I had only READ THE MANUAL! I would have been able to ues the phone up to today without a problem, but I thought I couldn't change the region as simply as you can in windows.. SILLY dumb ass I am :|

As it was I went on to look for a way to sim unlock the phone too. Well it took me 2 days an I finally unlocked the sim lock... when it requests the sim code 8 digits I think. You only need to run the unlocker program whilst that password screen is still on.

I went back to the orange shop who wouldn't help because I'd upgraded the phones rom( from an orange website mind).

Anyway my M500 is now sim unlocked; not that I really wanted it unlocked but just to connect to orange so I can use the phone.

I did notice something in the registry of the European update rom the emergency numbers are 211 and 911.. I can't seem to change these values but I can easily dial 999.All happy again now, took long enough but I got it working again.

A warning to those who do try to unlock their sim, be prepared!
