Guest muff Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Hi all I've got my hands on an actual physical SPV now, and so am trying to get some code running through it. Phone is sitting in the cradle and ActiveSync desktop app showing the phone as Connected, and I'm able to use the windows explorer to browse around the files on the phone. From SDK I've tried all the files that link to the phone (regedit, file manager etc), and compiling code direct, telling them that I'm no longer using the emulator, but the default device. When it tries to connect it gives me an error "The Microsoft ActiveSync reported the following error: Unable to load device side components. Please check server configuration settings" Any suggestions anyone? thanks in advance muff
Guest alkis_y3k Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I am having the exact same error.. Also, which CPU do you select? I play with the ARM processors, but nothing happens.. Can someone help us here?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I assume you've added the SPV as a device under Tools > Configure platform manager, and then choses TCP/IP under Transport properties? I _think_ i read about problems with leaving it as Activesync, and have always used TCP/IP with no problems.
Guest alkis_y3k Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 How do I add the device?? This is what I have done from the first place: Installed EVC++ 4.0 Installed Smartphone 2002 SDK, everything at thei default locations, I changed no directories. I load the minimal sample from the Smartphone 2002 sdk folder, the selected CPU is x86. Shouldnt it be ARM? Anyway, apart from that, in the Directories tab (options), the include and library lists aren't updated with the include and library directories of the smartphone 2002 sdk. I add them too for the x86 CPU configuration. I build the application, but it says: "An application targeting a Standard SDK for Window CE.NET and built for x86 CPU cannot run on the EMulator device......... Please see the eVC help documentation for additional details." I am sure you have seen this message. The build output says 0 errors/warning, and: Downloading files, Failed download. In Windows CE Plattform manager configuration, I edit the default item under the Windows CE.NET Default Platform popup list, and use these settings: Transport: TCP/IP Transport for Windows CE Startup Server: Microsoft ActiveSync. There is no option for Smartphone 2002 emulator in either list. I think I explained everything I did, now, can someone solve the problem? I would be grateful!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I don't think there is any SmartPhone element to hte evc++ v4, yet evc++ v3.0 does, don't ask why. You'll probably need the evC++ v3.0 package from here I seem to remember trying v4 once and having no luck. v3.0 should be fine though.
Guest alkis_y3k Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 LOL, dont tell me that I downloaded 340MB for nothing....
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 You need eVC 3 not 4 i'm afraid! P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Bitch ain't it? Luckily i made that mistake with the 10mbit line at work, and used my 2mbit line at home to get v3 ;)
