I have just got the Vodafone v1240, which is essentially a Qtek 8310. However, it did not come with an SD card.

I have synced with Outlook (contacts, calendar, tasks but NOT email). However, when I tried to install Clearvue it failed. There was a message saying I have low memory.

In task manager I have about 21MB available

In About I have Total storage of 16.94MB and available storage of 7.13MB

In System info it says RAM 64MB and FLASH 64MB

So

1. Is my memory screwed up some how?

2. If I install a mini SD card, will I be able to install Clearvue and other apps or does it require phone memory

3. Can I move some of the Outlook data (contacts for example) to the miniSD?

4. What is the memory I need to get - I have seen posts for multi level and single level SD cards and it appears that SL is what works best, but none of the websites I look at tell me whether the card is single or multilevel.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thansk

Your phone memory should be fine. I'm assuming you haven't loaded up dozens of your own ringtones and that Clearvue is the first third-party application you've tried to install.

You definitely need a mini-SD. Since you're in the UK I don't think you'll find a better, faster service than MobyMemory. Their own-brand cards are fine and cheap and SL. You should install pretty much everything on it - software, media, docs.

Check the Tweaks thread for the SP5 pinned at the top of this section for instructions on how to shift Internet Explorer & Outlook files to the card.

Thanks DiscoStu,

I am still a novice with the phone.

I checked out the Tweaks thread but it only mentions IE, not Outlook. I dont have any IE files (have not browsed much at all. Couple of visits to Google) How do I move Outlook files - or did you mean only emails and attachments?

Will moving outlook contacts to the SD card result in slower operation of the phone? (searching for contacts etc)

Will check out Mobymemory.

thanks

V

The only tweaks I know are in that thread. Haven't moved the emails folder myself.

I'd be wary of moving the Contacts folder since it is integral to the phone's functions and there can be delays in getting power to the storage card. To be honest though I haven't given it much thought recently...it may be that others have done this without encountering any problems.
