Guest chucky.egg Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 My Dopod 818 Pro seems to "lose" the SD card every so often (not sure exactly when it happens, but seems to happen almost every day now). The SD card disappears from both the internal File Explorer and Resco Explorer. PocketPlus no longer sees it (and reports internal storage instead) The card is properly seated, but if I take it out and put it back in the device still does not see it. The only way to get it back is to do a Soft Reset. I did a hard reset on the Prophet last night, and let it do it's full install (skipped the auto config though cos that's for Asian providers). I'm using a 4Gb Transcend 150x SD card, which has worked fine in my M500 for several weeks. Any ideas? Anyone else using a 4Gb Transcend card? Is there some secret Power Saving feature or something I'm missing?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 No such problems with my 4GB 'AData MyFlash 150x Turbo SD'... P
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Hmmm. TBH with you I wouldn't have been aware of it except for the fact that I'm trying stuff out for work - a lot of which requires the SD card. I've only noticed it when powering on the phone after a period of inactivity (but not first thing in the morning when it's been inactive but plugged in all night). I have a feeling (based on no experience at all) that it's power saving related, although I think it's not directly related to the current battery level.
Guest niek_groot Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 quick note to let you know i experienced the same problem... had cardexport installed.. hard reset and did not reinstall.. seems to work better
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 but not first thing in the morning when it's been inactive but plugged in all night Er, scratch that! It does happen first thing in the morning apparently :) I don't have CardExport (that's the thing that lets you access the SD card via a PC yeah?)
Guest Pondrew Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Not had this at all on my MDA Compact II (HTC Charmer) but didn't Awarner say his HTC Wizard did this?
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Ah, thanks for that I found the thread and have PMd Ashley to see if he got it fixed - sounds like a ROM update fixed it for him. I have the IMate ROM so I might have to try that, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I was thinking about putting the VB script app on and setting up a script to write to the SD every few minutes - if nothing else it should tell me when it "dies"
Guest J273 Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Have u installed the imate rom?...as ive got a jammin and was thinking of flashing to the dopod rom but am after an opinion on which is the better rom before i flash to the dopods
