Guest sensored Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 My pim.vol file has grown to completely take up every byte of free storage memory on my iMate SP5, and the phone won't let me synch, telling me that there's no free memory. I already tried moving some files from the phone's memory to the storage card, but whatever room I make gets filled up at the next synch. I have tried to change the synch options, such as synching fewer contacts and emails, but the synch fails every time because of the lack of memory -- the pim.vol file can't be changed. Other than a hard reset, does anyone know how to delete or replace or reduce the size of this pim.vol file? If it can be deleted or replaced, is there anywhere I can download an original or empty pim.vol file, which could then be properly filled at the next synch? Can't wait for Sprite to come out, which would have helped avoid this problem.

Due to a synch problem all my contacts were twice in the handsets, when I try to remove them the pim increase in vol and crash the sync..... Is there a possibility to put the pim on the SD card? Regards

Regards <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry I don't think I'll have any helpful advice to offer you... Just curious, so the pim.vol is where the contacts are saved? I saved it on the minisd card when I traded in my SDA for an MDA (which I regret) because I wasn't sure which file to backup to save my contacts. You can just choose "copy to" or "move to" and copy to your sd (contacts task has to be closed), then maybe delete some unnecessary files from the phone's memory, copy it back then delete some contacts? I don't know just a suggestion
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 You should be able to copy the pim to the PC or storage card then rename the existing pim to say pimold then reboot the phone. On a reboot a new pim file will be created, then you can delete the old one. I have only tested this on the Vario but it's worth a try.
