Problems accessing photos on storage card

I've been fighting with this all morning.

I have over 40 photos stored on my storage card. The phone is quite happy, and lets me view them. However if I connect my C600 to my PC (cable) I can't get the photos off the phone.

I'm guessing it's the number/size of the photos, as I tried moving them into another folder on the phone (still on the storage card) but doesn't make any difference.

The explorer window just hangs, I can browse the rest of the storage card contents quite happily, and managed to get a couple of video clips off the phone but when I try and access the photos it just hangs Explorer.

What to do?! Suggestions please (that don't involve buying any new equipment!)
