Guest rsearley Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 How do i send files via BT? Do i need a seperate application? Oh and should i just install the .cab file that i-mate provide for Orange UK settings? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the cab file only does network settings like MMS to send files by BT you use file explorer, find the file to send, press menu, the send > beam, you can then send by IR or BT, BT must already be active
Guest Skeese Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Thanks rsearley. Temporarily i don't have a mini-sd,Where do i store mp3 files for my ringtone and message tone in the phone?
Guest Skeese Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I realised there's no Msn messenger... how come?
Guest abhayseth Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 there is MSN - u need to enter the MSN menu on the phone - it gives ur 4 sub options. to send files via BT u will require the Smart explorer - available for free. I realised there's no Msn messenger... how come? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest shadamehr Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 CLARIFICATION! You WON'T need Smart Explorer to send via BT as you have a SP5 You can send direct from either the File Manager built in, or from the Pictures and Videos application while viewing them. BUT even with the new WM5.0 they STILL have not changed it from "beam via IR" So just go to do a IR send with your BT on, and it will search for BT devices too.
Guest Skeese Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 i tried sending an mp3 file to a Nokia 6230 by BT and it failed..... any reason?
Guest shadamehr Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Give us more info and we MIGHT be able to help. Failed how - didn't start at all, started but then gave an error - seemed to work but nothing received - there are loads of possibilities os can you elaborate? And try sending something smaller - but it should work I send videos etc all the time.
Guest Skeese Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 (edited) Gave an error message before it started sending... Edited February 18, 2006 by Skeese
Guest chrisc28 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Gave an error message before it started sending... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't worry. It's actually slightly buggy. I hope the new ROM addresses this.

Guest Skeese Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I connected my SP5 via ActiveSync and it said "Found New Hardware" Generic RNDIS.. so a wizard came up to install the required software, which i cannot find.. Anyone else had this? I use ActiveSync 3.8, could that be the problem?
Guest Skeese Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Problem fixed, installed ActiveSync 4.1
