WM5 Incoming call screen screwed up

Hi,

In my enthousiasm I installed an old version of IA Style caller ID on my Qtek 8310 with WM5 (stupid, I know). This program was not compatible with the QVGA resolution, so the result was not impressive.

I decided to remove the program, via the uninstall-feature in WM5. However, my incoming call screen is now all messy. The caller's name and number appear multiple times, over each other, making it almost unreadable.

I noticed in the registry, that not al reference to IA style were removed. Removing these didn't help.

I pretty much screwed up, :) , does anyone know if there are some settings in the registry that control the appearance of the incoming call screen? Can I change these to a default setting, which would restore my original incoming call screen?

Any tips/advice are most welcome! Thanks,

Richard

I think there must be somewhere in the registry that IA caller ID had changed. Have you ever tried to install another call ID software which is compatible with WM5? Just a guess, I suppose the new program will re-write your call-in controlling part in the registry. After that maybe you can keep using the new program or unstall it to see whether the default screen will come back. Also new to Smartphone, not sure if this could help 8)

I've done the same thing like you and I had to Perform a hard reset to bring all the registery to its default state. Try hard resetting your machine, it'll work.

Hard resetting? NOOOOOO...!!! Just kidding, but that would be the last resort for me. I was hoping to resolve this without a hard reset, thus also retaining all my settings.

Do you what other incoming call screen software there is available that works with QVGA?

So do you guys know any other ID Call program which will show a big picture of the caller?I'm also interested. I also use a Sony Ericsson P910i and it comes with a standard program which shows a huge incoming call photo.

I've also had this problem with my SP5m after installing some homescreen themes. The SP5m doesn't have IA CallerID that I'm aware of. What is this program supposed to do?

Does anybody have any ideas how this might be connected to changing/designing homescreen themes?

This is really bugging me as I am really bored of the 'Windows Default' homescreen :)

Hi !

most call screen problems come from a missing / unavailable picture.

for example, you install a theme including caller screen picture, then you change it for another one wich only set homescreen design. after that, you remove files of the first theme from device.

caller screen always set to the 1st theme picture, but gif / jpg doesn't exist anymore...

check in registry if HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:Callalert / "BKBitmapFile" make reference to an existing pic (240x266)

if you're not used to registry editing, check this file:
