Guest jeffcooper Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 This is going to sound really stupid, but here goes - when you start an application such as File Manager, or anything else for that matter, they very rarely have an exit function - you can leave the program by pressing pretty much any one of the phone keys - but if you check with the task manager, you'll find it's still running in the background - how on earth do you quit applications so that they do actually exit ??
Guest jeffcooper Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Further to that - it appears that the red put phone key down does end applications on the C500, but not with Win M5 on the C600 - Bizarre, unless I'm being even stupider than I thought
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Windows Mobile is designed not to close apps, it is (supposedly) intelligent enough to manage the open apps and close as needed if something else wants the memory. From what I've heard WM5 isnt as good at it as WM2003, but I cant really tell much difference. In practice you'll find that lots of non-"Designed for Windows Mobile" software has a proper close function (one of the rules of the "Designed..." thing is that it doesn't close, apparently) I'd strongly recommend xBar, which is great as a Task Switcher and also allows you to quickly close apps when ever you want.
Guest abhayseth Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Use the task manager - to kill the apps or u could also use the X-bar app to kill applications...! Guest mini_man Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Another cool idea that I thought would be very useful is to assign a task manager app to the home key or something similar. I opened gpcarreon website (master of the remapping :) ) opened this link http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=210#more-210 and remapped it too a task switcher. In my case i purchased Vito Task Changer http://www.vitotechnology.com/en/products/taskswitcher.html Its great as it is really small and incredibly useful!! Take a look
