No Phone Pad in SMS

Well after having nothing but trouble from my Orange M500 for the past week or so...(constantly freezing, getting messages saying no programme memory but when I checked only one programme running, and I don’t hardly have anything on the PPC etc) I decided to do a hard reset.

This all went fine, I decided against putting anything on apart from the weather software, running the O2 settings cab file, some today screens and some ring tones just incase it is anything I added on that was messing the ppc up!

The ppc is now working fine HOWEVER, when I go to send a SMS (and have now found out go in to any typing programmes) I can not get the phone pad up. All the other ones are there, the block recogniser, the transcribe, the keyboard, but when I select phone pad it just goes straight to keyboard and will not load it.

I tried a soft reset and it still didn’t work, however when I did it the following error displayed on start up ''can not find IA_CIS_Startup or one of its components make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available'' and also get a message saying the back up battery is extremely low (which once gone and I check its at 100%)

I never got this before on the SR until I did the HR, any one know what it means and if this is the cause of the phonepad not working. Its very inconvenient as I use the phone pad quite a lot!!

Is another HR in order or will this just do the same (I have deleted nothing since the HR so this is nothing I have done)

Please help anyone as its rather annoying!!!

Hmmm not sure wether to remove the orange ROM thing to create more space etc and less problems, what does everyone recon?

Cheers in advance for any hekp guys :)

The PhonePad problem sounds like the same issue that affects other devices, but I've never seen or heard of it on an M500. The solution on the other devices appears to be (a) keep as much memory free as possible, and (:) avoid "too many" Today plugins.

If you let the Orange stuff install after the Hard Reset there really isn't much you can do - the Extended_ROM (which holds all the configuration and installation files) is hidden after the Hard Reset, so you can't even reinstall the PhonePad stuff.

On my M500 I did the Hard Reset/Soft Reset thingy to stop the Orange junk loading and (on the whole) had very few problems. Bear in mind I was testing my phone for work, so I was actively trying to break it at times.

The easiest way to get more memory on an M500 is to upgrade to an HTC Prophet... no, seriously. Or you could do the Hard Reset/Soft Reset and only load the Orange stuff you want. There are several threads on that and the contents of the Extended_ROM so have a read first.
