Hi.

Have only recently 'found' the C500, its a great phone and we have two. One is a bit grubby so have got two dummy cases from Ebay.

My problem is removing the dummy's battery cover. I have had a thin blade under the whole of the back cover from top to bottom and there is no 'sticky' pad but it refuses to move at all. I think it may be 'glued' at the bottom below the button. Someone must have had experience in removing the cover. I have alreday marked one case trying to get it off so i do not want to touch the other until I've spoken to the 'experts'

By the way great site.

Hi Alan

You are right it is glued. There are two ways of removing the cover that I know of. One is to slide a pen knife blade under and around the cover and slice through the glue. istr its glued on the sides at the top and bottom of the cover. Sadly you may damage the battery cover in the process - I did but never needed a spare battery cover anyway. The other way, that I have heard of but never tried, is to pour super glue remover into the recess. Its a pest but hopefully you'll remove it easily.

Thanks

I have managed to release it.

For the info of anyone else the battery cover was only glued at the bottom, below the release button, where the two cover locating tangs fit into the chassis. The only way to access the glued area was to remove the two blanking pieces, which cover the holes normally occupied by the headphone socket and usb socket. Once removed you can see the black 'tangs' from the battery cover and the shiney 'superglue' applie dto them.

I used loctite glue remover putting on a a good coating and leaving for half an hour.

I then used a thin 'feeler guage blade' ( can be purchased from halfords used for checking car valve clearences) inserted upwards through the release button slot to hold the button down and a second feeler blade across the top of the battery cover as a lever to push the cover downwards. It came off with a significant degree of levergae but the cover was undamaged (clean the rest of the loctite glue remover off as soon as possible.
