Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Have you recently installed or uninstalled anything?
Guest pwr14 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 no, haven't installed or uninstalled, the only thing is that after my daughter brought it back it has a small dent in the cover just above the verizon logo
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Ok so if the phone appears to have been dropped theere could be a hardware problem rather than software and a hard reset will probably not help. Just checking is there any sound at all from calls etc? PS welcome to the site :) Edit As for a Hard Reset try the following, With the phone off hold down the 6 and # keys and power on.
Guest pwr14 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 no, no sound from incoming calls, the vibrate works, but no keystroke sounds or other normal sounds like deleting the call history list
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I think you need to ask your daughter how the dent appeared. I've not taken an i600 apart so can not guide you haw to check the internal connections yourself. I would definately try a heard reset first then if that fails take it to a local service center.
Guest ironsoulreaver Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) well.. it might be worth it just to open the phone up and see if it has the dreaded "contact" speaker... there in which i means the speaker sits on 2 metal contacts instead of being hard wired... which is a common problem with smartphones... ive had that issue with every smartphone ive owned so far. except this one.. havent had it very long... it looks like the phone has 3 screws behind the battery holder and thats it... you might want to tap the phone to see if you can reseat it... but this is all just a theory.. but can you hear the person talking through the ear peice though?
