Guest chasdl Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Hi Folks, I've recently upgraded my Audiovox 5600 to a Cingular 2125, and I'm having trouble resolving two issues. First, can we transfer files (e.g. images, etc) to another device over a BT connection? The Cingular store rep told me he thought that service wasn't available on this phone. And second, does it have a IR port and can files be transferred that way? Best...

Im not familiar with the phonebut i assume it has IR which means u can send files <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :-) That's what I was hoping to hear, but I don't think he meant it as a general comment, that is, that's impossible to transfer files via bluetooth generally. I think he meant to say that this particular phone may not be able to do that. Whether that is true or not is what I'm trying to find out. Best...
Guest mini_man Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 well open file explorer, and tell it to beam a file or send via ir or bt
Guest chasdl Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 well open file explorer, and tell it to beam a file or send via ir or bt <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds reasonable, I agree. But when you do that, only the "beaming" or the email options appear. There is nothing in those menus about BT. The BT works fine with my BT headset. But so far, I've not been able to figure out how to send a file via BT with this phone.
Guest w411y Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 If you go to 'Beam File' it will look for any BT or IR receptions. Give it time and it will show a load of numbers and letters which will eventually turn into a name of a bluetooth device and send away. For better file sending over BT you should download Smart Explorer

Playing with the IR functions, I was able to get the phone to recognize the presence of another device for just a split second, but then the recognition screen disappeared. I was unable to get it to stay long enough to actually beam anything. I thought perhaps there might be some bugs in the software of this particular model... I'll check out Smart Explorer as well. Thanks...
