Help! Start menu not appearing!

What is wrong with my damn Qtek 8310? The start menu refuses to appear even after switching off the phone a few times, and taking out the battery, sim, miniSD, etc... I have no way to access the start menu, and for some reason hitting 9 doesn't bring me to the settings menu to change the home screen... Do I have to hard reset to get rid of this problem? I don't want to do that! :cry:
