Guest sb0611 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 but mine has pictures, and the reg editings the bit that people dont get sometimes Thanks for that guide! The one thing I found in different posts concerning application unlocking is 2 more registry changes: Change "00001017" value to 144 (decimal) (recovery note: default is 128) Add new value "0000101b" and assign it DWORD = 1 (decimal) Can you explain what these are for and if they are really needed? Thanks!
Guest mini_man Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Change "00001017" value to 144 (decimal) (recovery note: default is 128) Add new value "0000101b" and assign it DWORD = 1 (decimal) Thanks! Glad it helped, hopefully the mods might make it sticky. Well im not aware of 00001017 but I know that 0000101b is for some WM5 devices, e.g you need this change in order to use WM5 Storage or it wont run. You dont need to worry about these too really, as ive used tons of software with my C550 and I never used those reg edits you mentioned
Guest Ossie2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Becareful when Regediting!! Follow the guide Sam Here is the registry editor regeditSTG.zip Hi I am VERY new to this forum so apologise in advance if this is not the correct way to reply. I am trying to unlock an old C500 and have followed your instructions exactly, installed regedit, cert.cab successfully BUT when I attempt to run SPVservices all I get is a screen with 'Action Cancelled'. I just cannot access the page! Any help very gratefully received. Ossie
Guest mini_man Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 make sure your phone is in sync, your internet is on and your firewall is off.

Guest cjlargear Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 After doing a hard reset I ended up off course with an appliaction locked SPV C550. I did once again the registry hacks and I rebooted. The wierd thing is that even though the registry values are correct I now am left with an application locked phone that can not be unlocked through this method. There is no simlock (I can use whichever network's sim I want), but I cannot install practically nothing on my relativelly new SPV. Please help me as I'm new into smartphones world.

Guest karlux Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 hi, what should i do, if I get stuck with SPV tools - please wait, reading encrypted block... I have application unlocked the phone, I have instaled cert.cab. Is it beacause of SPV tools having problems connecting to internet? I guess I don't have any firewall at all... so there shouldn't be any problems!? I'm desperate...
Guest searla Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Just followed these instructions and it worked perfect - thanks to the original poster! I've now got a "Drinking Phone" that I can stick me old T-Mobile SIM in.... :) Thanks again
Guest stripeycat Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Hi, i don't know if anyone's still reading this thread, but here goes anyhow : D I've pretty much followed all the instructions to getting the phone decerted and unlocked, but yesterday i put a mate's SIM from his old vodafone pay-as-you go handset into my orange SPV C550, and I keep getting a 'No Service' Header when it's booted up. Am I being a dufus here? Is it just the SIM that won't have it or is it possible i've missed something in the unlock process? I want to box this bad girl up and send her back to my folks back in deepest darkest africa but i'm nervous that if it's not completely unlocked, their archaic mobile carrier will take one look and tell them to forget it. Could anyone advise on similar problems, or if there's something else i could try?
Guest baccand Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Great! It works on my spv c600  I had a problemm with the Start menu, but.... s...t! I erased all my data and now I started again from skratch! With Windows always happens! Ciao Andrea
Guest JonnyI Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 I have a UK T-Mobile SDA II and I've followed all of the steps on all of the different suggested ways of app unlocking the phone, and I can load software on no problem. BUT...I've changed the shortcuts from the 3 of the 4 main buttons [short_AP1, 2, 3] to apps more useful for me [Tom Tom, Task Manager, File Manager]. Now that's fine until I need to reboot the phone [which I occassionaly have to do, as it seems to freeze sometimes]. This involves removing the battery briefly. After rebooting, the shortcut buttons have reset themselves to their original settings [t-mobile internet, calendar and contacts]. I then have to edit the files all over again using CENotepad. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to keep the settings when I reboot?? It's driving me NUTS having to do this every week!!! --------------------- Also, does anyone else have problems with their phones going weird occassionally. On mine, some of the keys will just not do anything eg shortcut keys, softkeys, etc even though the joystick will still navigate around. If, say, the contacts shortcut key doesn't do anything, I find I can't even open contacts by pressing Start then Contacts. Only solution is a reboot.
