Recommend a Voice Dialer

I've finally got my BT headset replaced (found that the Moto H3, and the shocking pinks ones too, have USB mini-A power sockets - so now I can charge both from the same charger. Coool!)

Anyways, I tried Cyberon Voice Command which came bundled with my Dopod.

"Piece of poo" doesn't even come close. If I didn't know better I'd think it was a practical joke. Less than 10% success rate. You could do better by guessing what I'd said.

So I'm looking for a voice dial application that can:

1) Call a dozen or so contacts by my speaking their name

2) Ideally I dont want to touch the phone at all.

3) Read unread SMS would be nice, but not essential

4) Do NOT need/want to launch apps, play music, read my diary out etc

Anyone care to recommend anything?

Needs to run on WM5, and preferably with a small memory footprint.

I second MS Voice Command. Even works by taping my headset. You never need to touch the phone.

Small footprint it's not...and you need to install it ON the phone...not SD memory. But not too bad.

I tried MS Voice Command out last night, and I have to say... it's pants!

"Call " worked most of the time, but

"Dial " came back as "Call 999?" more often than not

"Play " launched Internet Explorer, regardless of which artist I said. I know I don't want that, but as an example...

And it may be my headset, but I found I had to press the Headset button 3 times before VC would kick in. Then if it didn't understand what I said it just went "burp" in my ear and gave up.

It's not like I have a heavy accent or anything

I'm going to try Fonix and then Vito, and then give up.

did you try the US version or the UK version?

UK I think, it did suggest "999" (that might have been coincidence I guess).

I use it (MSVC) mainly to play music, while it just sits under my car stero, about 20inches away, it picks up about 80% of my commands when doing 70mpg down the motorway, so it must be your headset.

leave yourself a voice message or something to see what the device is actually hearing from you, test the quality out.

How well VoiceCommand works will also have something to with your device. I have friends who use it very successfully on iPaqs and Dells but when we tried it on an imate jam the recognition was terrible, both with and without a headset.

To disable Cyberon just remove the shortcut in \Windows\Startup

If you're trying to get rid of it permanently then you can uninstall it

You can download MS's from Handango and probably MS themselves

I use Microsofts Voice job on my M500 & yes it can be a pain but most of the time its fine, I find you have to leave a small pause between:

"Call" | |

& then sometimes "Correct" works other times "Yes"

So I'd say about 80% of the time it gets it.

Ive had loads of success with MVC - only frustration is that the wired stereo headset I use (i use the phone as an MP3 player a lot) doesnt seem to be able to activate the VC programme. So I still have to take thing out of my pocket and press a hardware button on the phone.

So the softwares good. But using it with a wired hands free is anoying.

Since "upgrading" to the iMate Prophet AKU2 ROM I've had Cyberson Voice Speed Dial which has been heaps better than everything else I've tried.

It doesn't do as much, but basic voice tags (which is what I was after) are fine

cr0wner, try using AE Button plus. It allows you to map the call/hang up buttons so, if you are using a wired headset, it works on the headset buttons too.

Oh and it's FREE!! ;)

Amazing it might be - but £25!

Is there a demo version that can be downloaded anywhere - seems a lot to pay for something that may or may not work, dependant on device etc...
