PPC or Smartphone

With the advent of WM5, it seems that the two forms of device are merging.

I have an XDA2i at present, which until recently had only been used for TomTom. Tha is until a fault on my K750i 'forced' it out of retirement as a phone.

Now I've fallen in love again with my 2i and am looking at what the future holds...

I'm just not sure whether that future will be PPC or smartphone.

I briefly had a C500, but it just didn't do it for me so sold it on. This has driven me away from smarties, along with the lack of ( to me at least ) attractive handsets. I tried a C550 and thought it wasn't a big step up, so returned it and took the K750 instead.

So, what about PPCs then? Well I'm a bit concerned that they seem to be going for slower processors to help on the battery life front and WM5 OS seems to be crippling the devices enough already.

My friend has a Exec and 'seems' happy with it but, from what I've read, it doesn't inspire me to buy one. The HTC Prophet looks awesome, but again seems to be suffering with problems :roll:

So basically this is a cry for help.... what devices, present or nearish future, could you suggest/recommend. I realise this is a rather vague post but I am confused :?:

I've got a Prophet and am getting on fine with it.

I have had issues, but with hindsight I think some of them were partly of my own making.

There are some odd issues like whenever I install Spb Weather my phone starts to forget about the SD card - but I dont know if that's because there's too much on the Today screen, or if it's a fault with Spb Weather.

For me the Prophet is almost perfect:

Built-in WiFi (I had a JAM before) is great,

WM5 feels more stable,

Speed is about equivalent if you do the tweaks (I'm not overclocking),

Camera is really good,

Down sides:

Headphone socket feels loose on my headphone cable

Black paint is wearing off very slightly around the stylus holder

I'm in a similar situation but already have the Magician that i do use as a phone - albeit not much, more for SatNav and mobile 'net...

Have a look at the SP5 and the m version (Tornado). They are definitely worth considering.. all the latests technology like WM5 and WiFi but still a phone. I cant recommend from experience but i've read almost all the bumf available and i'm yet to get swayed to anything else.. maybe a Prophet....

I was thinking of an Atom but read a couple of reports suggesting dodgy build quality..

now if the Muse were to appear sometime soon, who knows...
