Please help me!!!

I've downloaded the demo version of worms world party for smartphone from www.smartphone.net, put the CAB in the phone, and ran it....

I was trying to see if I could get it installed in the phone memory as I don't have the memory card yet.

It gave an error and auto-deleted the CABfile, but now I can't open 90% of the setting screens on the phone!! It always says "Unable to open the settings"!!!

And entering in "Remove programs" shows only an empty list (there were 2 apps before this mess).

Active sync no longer syncs, but let me browse the device.

I didnt investigate too much, other things may be broken now......at least I can make calls.

I WOULD hard-reset now, BUT i CAN'T lose all my contacts!!!

Do you thjink Jeyo can still access the contacts on such a compromised phone? (i haven't tried it yet because i'm on hurry now)

Is there an emergency measure I can do for saving my contacts before hard-resetting (copying to sim, possibly not one-by-one).

Or could I avoid the hard-reset by means of registry editing that so many times saved me in the "big one" (windows xp)?

many thanks for your help!!!!!!!

I know with the older windows this worked perfectly fine and i've done it myself many many times.

I've never tried on WM5, thats why i pointed u to the entire thread on that forum. Your best bet is to post there as well and ask if you have any questions specific to this on WM5.

The only other thing i can think of is to backup the entire device first. Maybe a prudent precaution anyway :)

Beta (free) version of sprite backup - which seems to be a favourite of most people i spoken to:

14 day trial here of another comericial backup sw:

Hope that helps.

Copy 'pim.vol' from the root of your phone to your PC. Hard reset the phone. Rename 'pim.vol' on your fresh phone to 'pim1.vol' and copy the old 'pim.vol' to your phone. Reboot your phone, delete 'pim1.vol'. Pim.vol is the database of Pocket Outlook (like a .pst file) with all contacts, appointments and everything.

Edit:

It might be your phone must be fully unlocked to do this, I'm not sure though (mine is).

Well i've already hard-reset.....

I've Installed jeyo mobile companion and hopefully it could connect, then I backed up all data and hard-reset the device.

I must add that, the fault might not be at the CAB installation: in fact before installing the cab I tried to unlock the phone by means of an application called "HtcPhoneUnlock" that accesses and modifies the registry all from within the phone..... it may have gone wrong......

p.s. copying the pim.vol file would work without permission errors but I preferred to do the clean way with jeyo :)

anyway thanks for help, i'm all right now and will follow the forum guides on how to unlock :D
