Hi all,

I have a misterious problem with my Qtek. Sometimes, now more than once a day, the joystick's left and up (simultaneously) doesn't work at all (all applications). It doesn't work for a while (~ minutes) and suddennly it works again. I'm not shure if the problem dissappears from its own or because I do something. The power off/on sometimes helps but sometimes not. Any Idea?

Same thing happened to me: Left and up didn't work on the joystick, right and down worked fine. I had it repaired under warranty. They replaced some board within the phone.

Did it go all at once or did it slowly get worse. Obviously I have been having problems with the up as well. Hopefully cingular will replace mine if it continues.

It seems to get worse on my mobile.

Has the repair helped? Did it happen also time to time as it happens on my device?

Hi Kalas! This problem seems to occur on the SPV C550 (the predecessor of the SPV C600) as well... I have a C550 and I have that problem too. The joystick goes back to normal after a few hours though.

Perhaps you should check this topic about the joystick on the C550 for some additional info:

Good luck :)

The joystick did not work at all today... urgh! Removing battery did not help.

I contacted the service and I'm going to have it repaired under warranty too.

I have exactly the same. The thing I am worried about is, will this happen every couple of months? The joystick contacts seem to become loose or something, and a repair will help probably, but for how long?

Did you have any more trouble after the repair?

My phone is 2 months old, and I am not amused this is happening already.

Not yet. I haven't got any other trouble with the joystick since the last time so I'm waiting now ...

my 2125 lost its joystick "down" and "in" capabilities .. or they were only intermittant at best.

I warrenty rma'd it last night, a new one is on the way (it also fried SIM cards...)

My C600 has developed a similar fault. The left, up, and press, are being very temperamental. They are not working more often than they are. Sometimes if I hold it in the direction it works intermitently.

Not sure why as it was fine one minute, then picked it up to use and the 'up' didn't work on the joystick.

Tried the soft rest and the up worked for a few minutes so thought it was software, then after hard resetting it it still plays up.

Orange are replacing it, but with it being 4 month old, no doubt it's with a reconditioned model and not a new one. Hate reconditioned as you never know what's happened to that in the past.

Why not get HTCeurope to repair it rather than get orange to give you someone else's old one? At least you'd get a new keypad board fitted.

from past returns, i'd be about at least a week without a phone. As long as the one I get isn't marked and works as new, i'll be happy ;)

Having had a similar problem with my i-mate SP5 I blasted the joystick with the compressed air aerosol from Jessops and has not been a problem since ;)

I'm sure this is a dumb question but I have a T-mobile SDA and I always thought it was a 5-way joystick (left, right, up, down, and enter).

So the Qtek has an 8-way dir with left/up directions? Does the SDA as well? From what I can tell, it doesn't- I tried a couple of games where I tried to shoot diagonally, no dice. Maybe it's just the game I tried, but it definitely acts like it has up, and left, but no up/left combo.

I cleaned a load of dust out of a c600 joystick manually and it had the same effect - works fine since.
