Guest Brainfire Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Hi... Does anyone know if there is any way of transferring my texts from my old phone (SPV C500) to my Xda Mini S? I had Sprite Backup on the SPV but, in all their wisdom, Sprite have created a new version of Backup for Windows Mobile 5 which cannot import backups from any previous version of their software! Total arses or what? I know where the 'Messaging' folders are on both phones, but can't see how I can transfer what I assume to be the texts inside them as there is just one list of files in the Messaging folder, all with the mpb file extension. I've tried viewing these using Notepad, Wordpad, etc, but can't get anything to open them - how would the phone 'know' what was Sent texts, recieved texts, etc, if I just copied them across? Hmmm, don't want a to do a hard reset cuz of my own daring and stupidity.... Thanks in advance.
Guest Geeklord Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 From what I've gathered, all your SMS are stored in the cemail.vol file in your storage folder. You could try copying that across. But don't hold me to that. There is another app that I've come across once or twice. It can convert your SMS to Email. I'll try to look it up and get back to you.

I have text messages not SMS messages that I would like to get over to my newer smartphone.(the older one took a dive) The active sync app didn't let me copy the cemail.vol file over. The system replied "there is a sharing violation." I tried the SMS2Mail app and it didn't move anything into the Outlook sent folder. I'm pretty sure it was becuase my messages are not SMS, they are just in the Text Messages folder. Any help is appreciated...

It didn't move anything to the Outlook Outbox folder. Can it only convert 100 SMS as I have more than that in my phone.
