Guest freemz Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I just got a SP5m second hand and accidentially dropped it. The corner of the shell cracked and the receiver speaker no longer works well during normal calls (loud speaker works fine for music and speakerphone). Since it is 2nd hand, no warranty coverage so I'd like to fix the thing myself. Has anyone taken it apart? How do you do it? Thanks
Guest fluffcat1 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Follow the method for Typhoon in the pinned typhoon section - all the major joints and fixings are in the same place. http://www.modaco.com/Hard_Reset_and_Disma...ns-t235873.html Richard

All I see is solid plastic. Any ideas?

That worked perfectly to get aerial cover off. Have right type of screwdriver. Removed top 2 and bottom 2 screws. Can't figure out how to pull off front cover. I don't want to break it. Any ideas? Thanks again for all of your help.

A credit card has too thick an edge and may mark the casing where you force it between the chassis and face. Richard

I used the guitar pick and was able to separate slightly one side. However when I got to the side with the void sticker/screw, I can't seem to open it up at all and am worried that I'll break it. Also, it looks like the board is trying to go with the top piece/facia instead of staying with the back half in which it is still screwed in. any thoughts? Thanks!

Have you removed the screw under the 'bluetooth' sticker underneath the mini-sd slot? This holds the board to the keypad, and the keypad is then screwed seperatly to the front piece. If this is still in place it would do what you described i.e lift with the front piece. You need to be firm when prising it apart - it's designed not to come apart accidently. Richard

In fact, it is solid plastic. I went back to the FCC site and looked at the internal photos for the tornado and there is no slot. There is only the one slot where the void sticker is. Thoughts?
