Guest jmobile Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I've been using my Audiovox SMT5600 for 6 months now without any problems or issues--until 3 days ago. The phone kept turning off...when I turned it back on, it would boot up, stay powered on for about 5-10 seconds then power off again. The phone was fully charged. After 2 days of troubleshooting--taking out the battery, charging, resetting, taking out the battery, re-charging, re-resetting...I finally got the phone to power on--and stay powered on long enough to make one phone call. However, overnight the phone powered off again...and when I turn it on now, I can not connect to the network. I either have "No Service" or "Denied, Searching..." in the network status area. (I am in my home where reception has never been a problem, and my other cell phone gets recpetion without any issues.) What do you think the problem(s) could be? Thanks.
Guest mini_man Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 did you try hard resetting? it might just be faulty software within the phone.
Guest Tech Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 could be a software problem but to me sounds more of a hardware issue.
Guest mini_man Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Its worth a go though http://www.modaco.com/THIS_IS_HOW_TO_HARD_...00-t113022.html Try it, beware you will lose all information in the Phones Memory
Guest jmobile Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Thank you--did the hard reset again...it appears to be working again now...for the time being, anyway.
Guest jmobile Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 awsome! hope it stays on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, didn't work...it shut down again...and when I power it back on, I get "No Service". Augh, this is frustrating. Anyone have any experience with the Audiovox warranty program?
Guest jenya Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Its a 1 year warranty and what you do is you mail them the phone and they inspect and fix. They do not actually replace the phone unless the problem can not be repaired... What carrier are you going through you might have better luck getting phone insurance and claiming the damage and having the carrier replace it?
