Guest 28z3 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Every now and then, although it is becoming more frequent, my wifi wont turn on. I press the button on the connection manager screen and the blue red yellow thing goes round but instead of switching on and the pillar appearing it does nothing... If I soft reset it works fine. Anyone else had this problem?
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 I get that pretty much daily now. It seems to be connected to the problem where the SD card disappears, and the device self Resets. I think it may be connected to running non-WM5 software - but I'm not sure now. I'm going to rebuild (again) with only WM5 software installed and see what happens.

The standard setting is a litle weak, so if you have other WIFI stuff around the signal can get drowned. Another trade off for battery life. :))
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 No, mine's set for best performance.
Guest 28z3 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 To be honest mine has got quite a bit of crap on it - gonna do a backup and rebuild myself soon. Is the latest version of Mort WM5 compatible - thats the main bit of software i couldn't be without :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 I've Hard Reset, let it install all its guff, and reinstalled all my WM5 apps by hand (followed by a Sprite Backup so I dont have to do it again). Mine now ONLY has WM5 compatible software on it (anything that doesn't explicitly say it supports WM5 is not installed). A few days ago I was sure that this was the cause, but now I'm not so convinced.
Guest varialflip Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Don't let it install its stuff, soft reset the device before it installs the extrom programs, see if it helps.
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Nah, that actually makes other things worse The Dopod ROM is actually pretty small and doesn't seem to fill your phone with junk. Cant speak for the iMate one, but Dopod seems good.
