Welcome Callmefurby89

What settings are you using to code the audio and video ? The phones processor may struggle if the bitrates are too high.

I was using virtualdub with great success but you should also be able to get improvements using PocketDIVxEncoder. Have a look through this topic which might give you a few ideas for audio/video settings :)

Did you check the second page of the thread ?

http://www.modaco.com/Best_codec_settings_...234521-s15.html

I've used numerous programs for Encoding audio and video, including PocketDivXEncoder, but after I got a C550 I found that VirtualDub was the best for getting the quality and framerate I was looking for. See above link it you want to try out VirtualDub.

As for your problem with choppy video, can you give some details about the source file. Are you converting a DVD ? Can you use TCPMP to get the 'Media Information' for the AVI file that you trying to play and post those details too. What version of TCPMP are you using ? Is your phone memory OK (internal memory) ?

i tried converting one of my ripped dvds that were in divx format and i tried converting a music video al come out the same... where is this "faq" thing that every1 talks about in the threads

the version of the playerim using is the newest one, for this video i again used pocket divx encoder... i dont know how to use that VirtualDUB... i dont get it i used to convert crystal clear vids for my mpx200 like 6 months ago but i had to reboot my computer so i lost all the programs and my phone broke

file info(as it says on phone): duration 0:20.020

file size 858kb

video mpeg-4 video

codec mpeg4 divx/xvid

size 220x90 (movie's widescreen... its just a little clip from "two for the money")

frame rate 23.076

audio mp3

codec mpeg audio

format 44100 hz stereo

data bit rate 96kbit/s

Try changing the audio to something like 24Hz strereo and a data rate of 56Kbit and see if you still get the choppy problem. Test it with low and high video quality.

I don't have pocketDivXEncoder on my computer at the moment but from Memory, click a button next to Audio and it should open the audio settings where you can click are up and down buttons to manually change the Hz, Stereo/Mono, bitrate etc.

It's not ideal but as long as you still have plenty of Memory left for buffering. Have you checked the available phone memory ?

You say that you also noticed the choppy video using tmpgenc preview on the PC. This sounds like a problem with converting the source file rather than a playback problem.

When you rip the DVD, can you confirm what format the files are ? What DVD ripping software are you using ?

Ahh, Now I realise why you are converting from a DivX source file.

For some reason there seems to be a problem converting these DivX files which you have proved by using two different programs. You could probably get round it by demuxing the audio and video files and coding them seperately but this would take longer to do.

TBH the best thing would be to convert the DVD's yourself. I usually leave the coding to run overnight :)

All you need is the VOB file which can be done with a program like DVD Decrypter.

1 Download DVD Decrytper (google for it)

2 Install and load up DVD decrypter on the PC and insert DVD

3 Goto Tools-Settings on Decrypter Menu bar, select IFO Mode tab and enable stream processing (click OK)

4 Goto Mode IFO on Decrypter menu bar

5 Click Input tab. You will see different VTS/PGC sections. One VTS section will contain a PGC which is the main film, has a lots of chapters and is approx a couple of hours long. Others VTS sections may contain PGC's which are short clips and trailers usually a few minutes long. Start by highlighting a PGC which is a short clip to get used to the coding procedure first. Alternatively if you want to select the PGC which is the main film then you can always untick many of the chapters to create a smaller test file.

6 Click Stream processing tab and ensure that 'enable stream processing' is ticked. You will generally only need the 0xE0-Video and 0x80 Audio options ticked.

7 Goto File-Decrypt and it will transfer the selected files to a directory on the PC.

And then load the VOB file into PocketDivXEncoder.
