Guest robobeau Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) Hey guys. I am in the process of making a Home Screen by altering the XML file of a another Home Screen I have on my SMT5600. In the XML, I changed the Author, Title, and of course, the Background. Problem is it will not show up under Settings > Home Screen. I downloaded another Home Screen and put all the files under Application Data > Home and it worked just fine, but the one I made will simply NOT work. I've looked at the code, and it checks out ok. I attached both files to see if anyone can give me some insight on what I did wrong. Thanks in advance! Daylight_BL.xml Edited February 28, 2006 by robobeau
Guest nevawlkalone Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) What i do before i install it is to open the home screen up in Internet Explorer...this shows if there are any anomilies in the code...not so helpful in saying where though but if it has an issue it will give a line oif blue text..if not it will shoe all the programing text.....hope this helps... EDIT: Crap dint read propa... Any hu...there arnt any plugins for your screen...no messaging ones or anything like that! Perhaps this is the cause?!? Edited February 28, 2006 by nevawlkalone
Guest robobeau Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 ... I fixed... The great problem that eluded me was... I needed to add .home before .xml... @_@ I am flabberghasted by this, but I noticed all my other Home Screens had it too... Boy, do I feel silly. :|

Guest djfeeney Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Been there, done that one! It might also be worth mentioning that when the XML code is first parsed, if there is an error in the code itself, you will not see it as an available layout for use (in my own experience with my SmartPhone).
