Guest dez16v Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) Hi Guys, I have had the same issues when trying to connect my C600 to my p.c. via Activesync that a lot of other people have had. My question is this:- Has anyone got it to work correctly? And if so , could they post their phone and p.c. settings on this forum so that all of us can finally sync our C600's. This phone is so frustrating!!! Cheers! dez16v  Sorry! I should have mentioned that I have tried Activesync 4.0 and 4.1. Also when I connect my C500 to either versions it connects with no problems! dez16v Edited February 28, 2006 by dez16v
Guest joe steel Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 This really should be straight forward, it has worked from day one for me. First and foremost, ONLY use v4.0 if it is the developers copy. Otherwise its GOT to be 4.1 (4.1.4841.0 is the latest build) Tell me how far your getting and whats happing when its failing? I have seen various errors form users from the PC crashing as soon as the phone is attached to just hanging for friggin ages... One of the most common faults I have seen with this when its not working is firewalls blocking the connection. Having USB2 really does help but, not essential. The worst case, your gonna have to start RIGHT from scratch! Fully remove Active Sync from PC and REBOOT!! Hard reset on the handset and do NOT plug it in until you are promted. PS can you list your OS build version for me please (start/settings/more/about) i.e. mine is OS 5.1.70 (Build 14402.1.1.0) peas

I had de installed Active Sync 4.1, installed Active Sync 4.0 from C600 CD, no luck, installed Active Sync 4.1 from microsoft, still no luck. Reading your message prompted me to disable my firewall (Zone Alarm) and hey presto got a connection and was able to Sync. So many thanks for your message, it send me in the right direction. Now got to see whether there is a fix to get the firewall (Zone Alarm) to allow the connection. Also had another issue, I had an recurring appointment from 2004 which would not Sync, had to change it to first occurance in 2005, and now Sync'd so looks like the Calendar on the Smartphone might not cope too well with historic appointments. Thanks for your help. njsb Edited March 1, 2006 by njsb14
Guest Ant Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 (edited) just go, file / delete mobile device in active sync. then reboot the phone and reconnect it to the pc. active sync will pick it up as a new connection and you should get the wizard and it will re-add it Edited March 1, 2006 by Ant

The other choices are not selectable. When i use the connection wizard the software does not find my device, even thought the usb option to connect is there? Why does the C600 try to connect via a local area connection? I get a small icon in my sys tray near the clock that tries to connect, but then it says thast i may not be able to connect to the internet via the phone etc... As soon as i try my C500 it syncs right away, i am sure it must be a setting on the C600 that needs to be changed, any ideas? dez16v

My operating system is exactly the same as yours. And the version of activesync is the same as yours aswell! I did try to sync with the version from the C600 CD that came with the phone but it did not work. So i then downloaded 4.1.0 from the activesync site and that has worked for me twice, but not anymore. I have done 3 clean installs and removed all of the old drivers everytime, which also causes me to load my original copy cd of windows office xp pro because it removes some files. I have rebooted the c600 everytime and even tried different usb connections, but it wont have it. I am not a novice at this sort of thing as i used to change my c500 screens, tones etc.. every week but it has beat me this time! Any ideas? Cheers! dez16v  One more thing, on my C600, When i go to start, settings, connections, should i have a choice of 'USB' because i dont have? I have Beam, Bluetooth, Dial-Up, GPRS, Proxy and VPN. I am sure it is some setting on the phone that is incorrect. I have just done yet another clean install and got the same results, but then i connect my trusty c500 and it syncs no problem. I have downloaded some new screens and tones , and i cant wait to put them on my c600, how frustrating!!! Please help!! dez16v Edited March 2, 2006 by dez16v

Please help!! dez16v <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try the ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide it worked for me. I also used Microsoft ActiveSync 4.0/4.1 USB Connection Troubleshooting Guide My problem was that I'd disabled the "DHCP Client" Service in Windows XP and WM5 now acts as a network device thus requires an IP address (hence the spinning network icon on the taskbar). Also make sure you have any firewall settings correct once you have an IP address ;) Hope this helps. Rich

This sound like it may work for me, but where do I find the 'DHCP Client' in Windows XP? I get the spinning icon but it never connects., but I think it is acting as network cos when I right click on the icon in the sys tray it tries to configure a new ip address. I have tried it with my Windows Firewall on and off but cant get it to sync. Cheers! dez16v
Guest R6RPP Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Hi Guys, I had problems as soon as I connected the C600 to the PC! The issue I had was that it connected but woulkd not sync with Outlook, I had to reinstall Outlook to solve it. Found this page and it should solve most of the issues :-) http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm Rich

Double Click on it and change the "Startup Type" to "Automatic" (see attachment ScreenHunter_17.jpg). Rich

Guest barrowfordred Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 I've come to the conclusion that Activesync 4.1 is a heap of junk. My connection on my PC at work is very erratic, it works OK then doesn't work at all until I restart the PC. Now it doesn't connect at all. Garbage beyond belief.
