Guest Zion800 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I just thought I'd let everyone know I fixed the Blue Screen of Death problem I was getting when I would connect my Qtek 8310 to my Sony Vaio laptop. It turns out, Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2005 was causing the problem. I read accounts of people having problems with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, however, none regarding Trend Micro. All I did to fix the problem was uninstall Trend Micro and everything works fine. In case anyone is wondering about the replacement virus scanner I'm using now, its Norton Corporate Edition 2006. Its installed and works fine. I don't get any blue screens. :-)
Guest Pondrew Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I've had few problems with Norton Internet Security 2005 at this end...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I've been lucky Norton has never given me a problem. (now to update my version and see the fun begin)
Guest Zion800 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 The version I'm using isn't Norton Internet Security, its Norton Corporate Edition. I just realized something...could it be the firewall function? It makes sense to me now... Awarner, what version of Norton are you using? Does it have a built-in firewall? When I would get the blue screens, it would always be in tcpip.sys. Trend Micro had a built-in firewall (even though I had disabled it). I think any scanner with a built-in firewall conflicts with ActiveSync. NIS2005 has a built-in firewall as well, but Norton Corp. Edition doesn't, it is soley a virus scanner.
Guest Pondrew Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Well, since the introduction of Activesync 4.x there have been numerous firewall related problems so that was my guess...
