Guest Brainfire Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) Hi all... I've just got an O2 Xda Mini after using a C500 for the past year - no matter how much I try I can't get reminders to work. Nothing; not a noise or any vibration. If I'm being a total numpty and doing something obviously wrong, can someone put me right please! Images are of the screens I think I should be using to set up a reminder. TIA Oh, and is it possible to get rid of the annoying O2 sidebar on the homescreen? Edited March 2, 2006 by Brainfire
Guest fraser Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 That is odd! Your screens show not only that you have the correct settings, but that you know what you are doing! ;) Do alarms work? And does leaving the phone turned on help? Task reminders are badly done IMHO; they go off at a set time, real early in the morning regardless of the setting on the phone. However, appointments should work; I use reminders all the time. There is a known issue where the phone does not allow enough time to start up for a reminder. Say you set one for 10:00, the phone will wake up X seconds before that time so that the OS is running. This can be tweaked if it is a problem, I remember reading about it when installing a third-party alarm clock. Google "wake up fix" or something like that. Finally, these wakeup events exist in a DB, and I remember coming across a util to clean up the database in case there were corrupt entries. This could also cause your problem I guess. Can't remember details, but it may be a pointer in the right direction for you.
Guest Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 (edited) I have the same problem with a T-Mobile MDA (usa). Reminders worked fine until I performed a hard reset. Unsure of the cause, thinking it was one of the programs I installed, I did a hard reset again, didn't install any software, and set an appointment with a reminder (actually several). Still no reminders. I'm guessing it occurs after a hard reset. I'll be calling T-Mobile today and asking for a fix or a new phone. >>>Update, The hard reset did fix my reminders. I had set the time to PM instead of AM and that's why nothing was firing - it was 12 hours too early. So, I will be re-installing my apps one at a time to determine which one breads my reminders. I'll post if I figure it out. >>>Update, I have re-installed all the apps I use and my remiders are still working. So, either it was a fluke, or it was caused by an application I tried but did not keep. So back up your data and try a hard reset. (April 8th 2006) Edited April 9, 2006 by Guest
Guest travisb Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 I've got a similar problem on my M2000, I set up reminders just like above, but it seems when connecting via ActiveSync, the settings get scrubbed. The same thing happens with a soft reset. My alarms still work, it's just calendar events. Weird
