Guest jetsetter Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Hey there, I'm new, hello. ;) I just discovered these forums, and did a quick search for discussion regarding the Sidekick iii. I didn't see anything. Is anyone else anticipating the release of this device? There are a couple of sites dedicated to information about them, one is Mobile HipsterMobile Hipster, the other is hiptop3. js
Guest ChrisJM Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 erm, is the sidekick III actually a smartphone?
Guest mini_man Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 erm, is the sidekick III actually a smartphone? No buttons so um nope! must be some form of ppc
Guest ricardo the fish Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 No buttons so um nope! must be some form of ppc <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :??: engadget Has some pics. there's definatly buttons. Isn't the Sidekick a sort of smartphone. Not Windows. Seem to remember a news story on how Paris Hilton had a sidekick hacked or something a year or two ago (not this model, obviously, but maybe version II). sidekick II infor can be found here.
Guest pisquee Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 If it is MS' Origami project then it will be a tablet style device, although smaller than current tablets, and bigger than current PPCs, aimed more at the comsumer markets than the tablets. MS are said to be planning on getting it ready to run XP rather than waiting for vista. more details ... http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/03/02/ms...project_launch/
Guest Pondrew Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 The Sidekick III is an evolution of the Sidekick concept. It's not a Windows device. Moved to Off Topic but I'd recommend mosying on to www.mobiholics.com (another site on the modaco.network) for discussion/info of such non Windows Mobile Phones...
Guest nerdeff Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Here are some images of Sidekick III Smartphone
Guest ChrisJM Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 cool, it'd be pretty cool running windows ;)

MS are said to be planning on getting it ready to run XP rather than waiting for vista. Are we taking bets on what Origami is then?... All the industry hype is wInDiNg ME uP.... I don't think it'll be a phone or phone enabled device as they've only just got over the launch on wm2005. Makes little sense to have had two teams working on similar products that both see the light of day. Microsoft navigation unit a la Navman? Personal media player in an iPod stylee? I reckon it's the new Tablet interface. Hope so. http://www.origamiproject.com/1/ Richard ( Who loves his compaq TC1000 - and wants to buy another tablet form factor PC :-)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Turns out its just a tiny tablet PC (think OQO size). Not sure what all the hype is unless they have a GSM/UMTS module built in?
