Guest zee3 Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Hey Guys, I am in the US and I currentl have Cingualr Service, but I am Planning on just buying the SDA II from tmobile without service and unlocking it to use on Cingular. I have seem plenty of posts about unlcoking the phone for SP5m and Qtek 8300 which are the same thing, but I just wanted to verify that I will be able to unlock my SDA II with these methods? I currently have an ipaq rx3115 and I can wait to get rid of that so i dont have to carry a brick around. Also, does anyone else have any suggestion on where I can get the sp5m/qtek 8300/SDA II in the US for cheapest... Amazon has it for 399 without contract... thanks in advance..
Guest zee3 Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 well, is unlocking WM5 the samet hing as unlocking the phone...getting a little confusing.. heres the link for unlocking WM5... http://spaces.msn.com/xpworld/Blog/cns!...A!198.entry ...if this is same as the unlock for the phone then im good... I may be a newbie, so forgive my confusion..
Guest Pondrew Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 @zee3, is this the device you are referring to? Why are you calling it the SDA II? I understood the HTC Tornado Smartphone (with wifi, QVGA, WM5) sold by T-Mobile in the USA was simply the SDA (no number)... There IS an SDA II in Europe but although it's got a similar case it's not the same device (actually being based on an older device called the HTC Hurricane) Oh, and with regard unlocking the device, if you are talking about the T-Mobile USA SDA then you should be able to use the same methods as recommended for use with other HTC Tornados (such as the SP5m and Qtek 8300 you mention)
Guest conceptvision Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Should be the same as unlocking an Audiovox SMC2600 or an Orange do a search

First you must application unlock your phone though. I also recently upgraded the rom to the SP5M rom and it is much better than the tmobile version ! This is a great site for info. Just have to search a little.

I'm thinking of doing it...
Guest daddee66 Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 (edited) Are there any negative impacts you've noticed after upgrading the TMobile SDA to the SP5M ROM? I'm thinking of doing it... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing negative yet...and I have thrown a lot at it so far. My tmo sda froze on day two while running several programs. I have not had that problem after the upgrade. The only problem that I did have was with an LCD plugin that I had used on my old mpx200 which caused the phone to freeze. After I deleted it though the problem was gone. Make sure that you read the instructions several times just to be safe and load the correct file. I learned many lessons from hacking motorolas and nextels so be careful ! You don't wanna brick your phone. Edited April 5, 2006 by daddee66
