Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 It was a while ago now that the UK car accessories chain Halford were selling the Medion MDSP150 Sat Nav Smartphone. The medion web site has this phone with GPS (cable connection type) and Navigation software for an amazing price of £149  Specifications Intel® PXA 262 200 MHz CPU Microsoft® Windows® Mobile Software 2003 SE for Smartphone WAP, MMS, SMS and E-Mail functions MP3 and WMA playback Voice recording and playback 32 MB Flash / 32 MB SDRAM 2.2" transreflective display with 262.144 colours SD/MMC slot for SD/MMC storage cards Tri-Band Mobile Phone (GSM-900/1800/1900) Polyphone midi ringtones Infrared USB 1.1 Earphone jack The camera is poor by todays standard at only 0.3 megapixel What's in the box? Smartphone UK map material 256MB MMC Memory Card GPS receiver with connection cable Car holder USB synchronisation cable Power supply 12V car charger High performance Li-Ion battery The MDSP150 is also known as the Sagem myS-7 which is actually a re-badged Mio 8870. While the phone does not have WiFi and Bluetooth, the unit I played with back in 2004 did have an 8way joystick which for me makes this the ultimate gaming phone. Another interesting feature is that according to the Mio website this phone also has SDIO support. For more information have a look at https://www.medionshop.co.uk/ and click on PDA & Navigation This is one phone I have had on my "wish list" for a long time, it's a shame I can not justify getting it now ;)
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Given that this is basically the same phone as the Sagem, and given than Scandisc have SDIO wifi drivers for the Sagem, do we have our first phone with wifi?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Nope it's not the first, as the SP-5 has built in WiFi. Even looking at SDIO side of things the Samsung i600 was the first Smartphone with SDIO support. The only downside was the lack of available drivers.
Guest MadStu Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Hi, I bought this phone from the Medion website at £149 a couple of weeks ago. It's an awesome phone, the satnav system is excellent (the reason I bought it) and it does everything it says on the box. As for Wi-Fi, it doesn't have that capability - or at least, I'm unaware of how to set it up. If anyone can tell me how to set wi-fi up on the phone, then please share! Stu ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 You would need a WiFi card and the drivers (which could be the sticking point) Just noticed this deal was mentioned in another post last month  It was posted as the Sagem MyS7 that's why I did not remember ;)
