Can u send messages via bluetooth

Hi is there an application for free that lets you send messages via bluetooth on my SPV c500? Many Thx Ali-BB.

If you download Orneta notepad... type out a message and save it. It saves as a *.txt and then you can send this over blueooth. However not all phones will be able to view a *.txt I dont think. SPVs can and Nokias can. Dont know about the rest sorry

There must be a way because even some nokia phones can send messages via bluetooth. And Smatphones are better then nokia's right?

Nokias can send messages through bluetooth but they are just notes that are written with the Calendar function.

Actually, they are notes written with the NOTE function.

And just to clarify for those SmartPhone users that dont use Nokias as well, the Notes function/setup on Nokias, is actually LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything that the SmartPhone has to offer alas, as I have mentioned many times on here, about my one single reluctance to move fully over to the SmartPhone platform.

With a Nokia - Series, 40 or Symbian Series 60, notes are a breeze.

To type one, you can easily set a shortcut, on the right "Go To" soft key.

Then, you just go straight into the ditor, and type as you would an SMS.

When you are done, you can click send, and are asked whether you wish to send via "BT, MMS, or SMS" - this is really handy if you are trying to send via BT to a nearby phone, and BT fails, so you can drop back to send via SMS or MMS without any difficulty.

Saving is as simple as exiting the note editor - it is saved instantly.

When you receive a BT text note, a message appears on screen, in a similar vein to receiving an SMS or MMS to your phone.

And finally, notes can easily be synced to the notes feature of Outlook on a PC, when doing a sync with a Nokia. We can't even do that on our WM5.0 SmartPhones yet (though I think you can on a Pocket PC device though?).

Overall, there really is nothing to touch the sheer simplicity, usability, and transparency and integration, of the Nokia Notes facility.

That said, most everything else on a SmartPhone beats Nokia.

But for notes...

Nokia is years and years ahead, and it isn't even a third party feature.

You can do exactly the same on a Smartphone using Orneta Notepad (Save as .txt and send) Yes its a lot simpler on a Nokia but why did you get a Smartphone ;)

Im sure it would be very simple for someone to make an app that would send messages over bluetooth so it is quicker than using Notepad and sending, it just hasn't been done.

I know someone who is going to create an app that works on QVGA and does what mobiluck does but much better and much more. (that didnt make sence but you get my drift).

He will begin work after hes finished his news app which is still in beta.

I have been giving him ideas and i shall say to him that it should have an sms function as well.

Ill will also suggest that it should be like a ornetta notepad as well so it can be an all purpose for opening/editing/saving/sending.

I have suggested other things but anyone else that has really good ideas tell me and i will tell the guy creating the app.

Make sure the person recieving the message doesn't need the app to open the message. I think Mobiluck requires the reciever to have Mobiluck on their device too.

mobiluck doesnt, I got it running on my C550 (somehow) and it worked perfectly for messages (except it would need reinstalling every four days).

Again it sends .txt (ithink) but its just an easier system as it gives you the option to send the file after typing it.

you dont need to have the software to recieve messages, but if you have the software you can setup profiles and do lots of silly pointless things.

I think hes calling it "sniper" .

OK - a couple of points there, so a couple of responses...

1 - I would say it is years ahead, but I say that based on years of usage of both methods, on various smartphones, and various nokias - but this is a subjective point I agree. The only bit I offer factually, is the time it would take to achieve on a smartphone, compared to a nokia - that makes it factually miles ahead, methinks *lol*

2 - The nokia phone does indeed send as a .txt file, and indeed not all phones support .txt - BECAUSE... some phones use an almost propreitory, little recognised, .vtf (virtual text file format), such as the sony ericsson handsets. The .txt format however, is the 'centuries old', UNIVERSAL STANDARDS COMPLIANT format for a basic text file, meaning you can even type a note on a PC and send it easily to a nokia - because it is using the most widely recognised, standards compliant, correct format. So much so even that you can SEND a .txt file to a S.E. handset and it will read it. But sending FROM a S.E. will be in the less used .vtf format, and thus cant be opened on a nokia (or a smartphone, or a pc as a text document etc - you get the point?) I'm sure as heck therefore NOT gonna see nokia being at fault here for using the .txt format, when the issue is one of the OTHER phones using an almost proprietory format - so I hope that helps put that one to bed *lol*

3 - I got a smartphone IN SPITE of this, certainly not because of this. In other words, the phone that does EVERYTHING I would like, doesn't exist, pretty much applying to all of us I would guess. So we simply pick the one with the MOST of what we want. And, as I already said in my original post, the SmartPhone does MORE of what I want than the Nokia does overall, but the Nokia does this particular feature miles better. Exactly as I said previous.

4 - I don't think ANY application will fix this as much as you mention mate, becuase the point I was saying was that with this being a part of the core OS itself on the nokia, it is quick, simple, and easy. A third party app on a SmartPhone will still mean lack of full integration, meaning numerous and various menu clicks etc. Certainly, from the point of view of someone that has tried Orneta to fix this many a time, and just gave up using it many a time becuase of the hassle to achieve it, I see little likelihood of a killer app. Take Orneta - to send one I need to load it up... Turn on t9 (as it does not 'remember' from use to use...) Type my note... Save it with the name nokia.txt (meaning I must delete or overwrite the previous named file if one exists, so no scope for multiple copies - as it seems to need the generic name nokia.txt for it to work). Then I need exit Orneta, load up the File Manager application, and then search for the file, and find it. Then I need to Open up the menu in a file explorer, to try and bluetooth send it to the destination phone. Burdensome, time consuming, none-intuitive, and generally not worth the hassle, over time. Same for recieved files... No ready 'open as soon as recieved' option like on a nokia - again we are back to using a file explorer to open it up. And even then, no easy "Reply to" option, once read, like on a nokia...

So I 101% stand by everything I originally said based on LOTS of experience doing this with both platforms.

Just remember, I am NOT smartphone bashing though, so go easy... I was merely pointing out one aspect of a nokia, that still leaves a smartphone for dead - it does, beyond any doubt...

Yes it may be slower to load and maybe a bit more complicated but its still an achievement and it still sends those messages to people who are clueless to whats going on.
