UTMS /3G keeps connecting on it's own

Hi all

For some reason my XDA Exec keeps connecting of its own accord to UTMS/3G even though there are no apps open and calling on it (I've checked the Memory app and shut everything down).

Apps installed that require network connectivity (besides mail and IE) are

WorldMate Pro

WiFiFoFum (only with WiFi)

Egress

Agile MEssenger

Skype

mToken

Any ideas?
