The Definitive Source on How to Sync

After spending hours on this forum and trial and error, I wanted to share with everyone here having trouble how to sync WMP on your computer with WMP on your Cingular 2125. It's a long guide, but I think it covers everything you'll need.

Here are the directions, assuming you've already installed a memory card in your phone. (Btw, I suggest doing a hard reset after installing a new memory card; my phone freaked out after I did):

1) Install WMP 10 on your computer.

2) Install Active Sync 4.1. Restart your computer.

* Even if you have both pieces of software installed, it's imperative that you reinstall Active Sync 4.1 again. If you have AS 4.1 installed, when prompted, hit repair previous installation. I know from experience that AS 4.1 has to be installed AFTER your installation of WMP 10.

3) Convert all of your music to MP3, odds are WMP won't be able to play it. I do this by selecting music in iTunes, right clicking, and hitting "Convert selection to MP3"

4) Drag converted songs from iTunes into a temporary folder. Open up WMP, clear "Now Playing List." Drag temporary folder into the WMP's "Now Playing List." Those songs should appear in the "now playing" list, so make a new playlist and name it anything you like.

5) Connect your 2125 to your computer. Moment of truth: In WMP, go to the "sync" tab. Hopefully you should see your memory card in the "devices" tab.

6) To make sure not only your songs but also your playlist are transfered to your phone, hit "Sync Settings" and select the saved Playlist(s) you want to transfer. For some reason, "Sync Settings" is the only way I have found that the playlist is tranfered along with your songs.

That's it! Good luck!
