Guest hooded Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 So I've successfully setup my wm2003 smartphone to check my gmail. It will pull down any new email. My main is that when I then go home to check my email (again through pop3) The messages I got on my phone do not get downloaded. So I assume whats happening is that my phone's email client is telling the server to mark any email thats been downloaded as downloaded. Is there any way around this? I suppose some form of syncing could work, but it seems like any mail I have on my computer would sync to the outlook folder on my phone rather than the pop folder and vice versa. Help would be very appreciated. BTW I have a SMT5600
Guest Geeklord Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I'm not too sure how it is with the SMT5600, but on the Voyager (WM2003), you have a choice when it comes to POP3 mail whether to download the 1st 500kb, 1000kb or just the headers. I opted to download just the headers when I send/receive email from gmail. This way, unless I download the whole message, the server will not recognize it as read. In some cases, even after I have read the message, I just highlight it and mark as unread (menu + 7). I hope this helps.
Guest jimbouk Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I don't know about your mail server or device, but most pop accounts/services offer you an option to "leave a copy on the server".
Guest ryr154 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 "leave a copy on the server". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am having the same problem with WinMob2005 on my I-mate SP5. It downloads the emails regardless of size or hearder sellect. I want to view them on my phone but leave them on the server for later use. I have it setup this way on 3 PC's and 1 PDA. The 4th machine is where the emails will be actully removed from the server. Its it possible for Windows 2005 to leave the emails on the server!! Alan
