Guest lcbingman Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Hello, everyone. I am new to this forum and would like some questions answered. I have a Cingular (HTC) 2125. What I would like to do is enable it to play startup and shutdown sounds. I viewed this topic many times... http://www.modaco.com/Tweak_for_iMate_SP5_SP5m-t230975.html However, nothing on it worked. I have been told that HTC phones with WM5 apparently ignore the registry settings for startup and shutdown sounds. I am quite familiary with the registry. So, don't worry, I am not a newbie for that. Then, I tried the homescreen plugin for the above link in an effort to play the sounds. Again, nothing. Is that plugin meant for WM2003 phones only? I followed the instructions to a "T" and nothing worked. Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong? Someone please help.
Guest lcbingman Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 *BUMP* Anyone? Please don't tell me that nobody has tried to get startup and shutdown sounds on their phone?

On my old SMT5600 it was a simple registry edit, but that doesn't work on my 2125. Sorry.

Sorry. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you update the firmware, blowing away all the Cingular settings, you can do pretty much anything you want. And the new iMate firmware has a lot to offer. Mine is a T-Mobile SDA, and it's much better with the iMate firmware installed. I fail to see the need for startup and shutdown sounds... The T-Mobile sounds were probably the biggest reason why I flashed mine. It was the only way to completely get rid of them! But if you feel you need them, this is pobably the best way.

Is it compatible with my phone? And, how do I flash the phone for the new firmware?

Night and day difference. I cannot say enough about it - SWITCH TO THE IMATE ROM!!! However, even with the new ROM I wasn't able to get the registry edit to change startup or shutdown sounds. I didn't install the startup.cab, or use the homescreen plugin, which may be why it didn't work for me.
