repeating notification sounds O2 XDA II Mini

Does anyone know a registry hack or otherwise to repeat notification sounds on the O2 XDAII mini phone?

My problem is that I receive an SMS but never know as the sound does not repeat at intervals, it just sits there dumb and I have to check, my wife's simple ancient Nokia phone beeps very loudly on a timed schedule.

Ahhh new technology, sometimes simple is best ;)
