Hi,

I've got a C550 coming to me in the next couple of days that I will be using with a T-Mobile Sim.

Rather than muck about with the settings to get it to work with my sim (Still not managed to get my E200 to work with MMS yet) has anyone installed the T-mobile SDAII ROM onto this phone ???

Also is the ROM easily available ???

Cheers

Gaz

It's possible as both devices (the SDA II and the SPV C550) are the same hardware underneath different shells (both are HTC Hurricanes). BUT you would need to unlock your SPV to any rom first either through www.imei-check.com or using www.spv-developers.com SPV unlocking tool (both of these sim unlock AND set the CID to factory default thereby opening the device to any rom intended for that device).

You can get the SDA II rom from here BUT they seem to have linked to the MDA III rom in error...

Final word of warning, flashing a rom not intended for your device is not recommended by MoDaCo and if you don't want to risk your device DON'T DO IT!

Cheers Pondrew,

I've been using the xda-developers web site for ages now and didn't realise there was one for the SPV.... heading off there now.

Cheers

Does anyone know where T-mobile are currently hiding this update?

I've done it, worked fine but t-mobile know how to f-up a phone. It's not sim locked but the general phone is a whole bunch worse, it wants opera installed, t-zones shortcuts, no direct links to calendar. call register (what the... surely it should be called call history) etc. Just used to orange I guess.

But if anyone can advise how to delete system files like the t-zones shortcut that'd be great.

Righty ho. Had a look at the html of the page and figured out where it was looking for the file.

The file can be downloaded from here:

http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/files/TE_T...5_0160_Ship.exe

Will try it out and let you know results.

Is there any advantage 2 installing this rom?

The only reason I did it was to get my phone to accept my Vodafone SIM Card.

When it was on the Orange ROM and I unlocked it it worked with any SIM apart from Vodafone. Considering Vodafone was the one I needed to use that was a problem.

Not sure if there are any other benefits. I believe it frees up 5MB of Storage Memory. Aside from that, no idea.

I'd advise against it, music keys now do random stuff like opening the calendar, and let me say again, the t-mobile rom layout n stuff sucks compared to orange!

The only reason I'd suggest to upgrade was if like me your phone would crash every few days when you tried to make a call, I was on the very first orange rom. Stay with the old rom unless you really need it.

no no no no, dont even think about going there.

Installing a rom not intended at all for that device due to anyreason (excluding things like same phone roms like c550 and sdaII) will completely screw up your smartphone.

The bootloader will get corrupted and your phone will refuse to turn on. It will get to 71% (i think) of install and that crash.

Search the forums and you will see.

Yup, he's right. The SDA II C550 thing only works because the phones are essentially the same HTC device. The HTC Hurricane I think.

I use a Vodafone SIM with Orange rom without any problems.
