SPV C550 T mobile settings

I have application unlocked / sim unlocked my spv c550 and got it to run on t mobile contract sim card (in the UK), however i still cannot get it to receive text messages - any offers? (i can get it to connect to the internet as i downloaded/installed a cab file which helped here but phone still would not access text messaging)
