Guest vedtom Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 I was actually just searching for some app's for my XDA using armadillo. After I hit enter, I get more than 15 simmilar choices with the adequate name I have entered, with same file size (175 kb). After download and unpack I run that file but i have get the message that this is not a valid win32 application. So I have copied it to my phone and "Open"....The funny part was that I got the same message as in my PC!This was the moment when I have realised that there is something rong with that fu...g app. After several minutes I just run something that was installed on my memory card and than happened the "MAGIC" the app could not find its components on the memory card!!!When I have navigated there with the file explorer all the directorie names were writen in some unknow language...something like this "ñGFŽkU‡R²fh¤’3æ,rcîäzžzs"!!! I made a hard reset, and now I am downloading the latest F-prot to my pc to do a scan. Is there a good antivirus app for PPC?Could these viruses really harm our devices or only the file system, and app's?
Guest Tech Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 there is one called airscanner anti virus, pretty good i think but i use the one bundled with my imate sp5m - etrust antivirus (dont like etrust but hey) your situation may not be a virus but perhaps some corruption somewhere ;) never know tho
Guest beersoft Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 looks like broken fat table on the sd card, but there is another lesson to learn from this, "dont download warez" seems to be the answer later Owen
Guest vedtom Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Yes, you all right.Downloading all kind of app's is dangerous but at the same time interesting too, and espetially when that app is running ;) From now on I will be more carefool, and I recomend for enyone who is browsing and downloading a lot.
Guest fraser Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I doubt this was a virus. There aren't viruses available on the PPC. Probably just a corrupt download.
